Seriously...would you care? I mean, a fresh start would kick ass. We'd have a TOTALLY NEW organization, from the owner on down.

Would it really be that bad?

I probably wouldn't be a fan of the new franchise. I haven't lived in KC in 20yrs (most of my life) and my loyalty is to the Chiefs more than KC. I'd probably become a Bucs fan.

So, yes, I'd care.

That was way different. There was a longer gap, and Baltimore got an existing team... not an expansion team from scratch like Cleveland and Houston.

I don't get this mindset - why do the Hunts always get a pass? CARL IS THEIR LACKEY. If someone hits you over the head with a hammer, do you blame the hammer?

The Hunts are every bit as responsible for this mess - even the great Lamar, who sure as hell didn't seem to mind giving away the trophy with his name on it to other f#cking people for last 34 years of his life.

The Hunt family has sat idly by and let Carl screw the fans out of hundreds of millions of dollars by putting a piss poor product on the field. I could give two shits who owns this franchise, whether it's Clark Hunt or Mike Hunt.

It's the Kansas City Chiefs - Not the Hunt Chiefs or the Tony Gonzalez Chiefs.

Players come and go, coaches come and go, and sometimes owners come and go. If they moved they'd no longer be the KC Chiefs.

I don't know what I'd do with an expansion team. We got the Texans while I was a resident of Houston but I remained a Chiefs fan. But if my team moved, who knows. Maybe it would just make it easy to give up on professional football. It's difficult being a fan of an entity that rewards idiots with hundreds of millions of dollars for being able to run fast and jump high. It's hard to come up with hundreds of dollars to entertain your family for a 4 hour stretch on a Sunday afternoon. For hundreds of dollars, we can enjoy a nice extended weekend of vacation somewhere. So my official answer is, I don't really know what I'd do.

Not really in Houston. Many here still LOVE the Oilers/Titans. And there are so many more Cowboy fans now. Course, once the Texans start winning, I'm sure that will change. And they are headed in the right direction, unlike the Chiefs. They finally woke up and hired a new GM and coach... :hmmm:

I was also a St. Louis Cardinals fan growing up -- Chiefs were 1A, Cards were 1B (and truth be told, in the mid-70s the Cards were a lot more fun to watch, so I probably got more emotionally involved with them then).

But when the Cards left for Arizona, I dropped them without a second thought. And I never picked up the Rams when they moved to St. Louis.

Hell yes I would care.

I think the only reason I watch pro football is because I want to see how some of these teams look relative to the Chiefs. If they moved, I'd probably only care about college basketball.

Think about this GoChiefs. LA couldn't even keep TWO teams in their area, let alone, try to support a NFL team.

LA isn't gonna get a NFL team. And even if they did, they'll probably relocate, per usual.

For me it's the team, not for the city. Aside from changing planes at the airport I haven't set foot in KC since 1969. Wouldn't matter to me where they played, I'm a Chiefs fan. To paraphrase Seinfeld, I root for laundry.

The Seahawks nearly left seattle back in '94 (I think?) Anyways, our fat slob owner at the time was slapped down by the commish and forced to sell the team. It was absolutely frightening to me at the time that I was in danger of losing my beloved team. you don't want any part of that.. Trust me. (sidenote: our GM at the time was a guy named Mike Blatt he was a sports agent who shortly after the attempted move was convicted of murdering a guy with a crossbow. wtf?. weird stuff

Anyway, it may sound interesting, but it pretty much sucks to lose your team no matter how bad they are..

I say you should just move to the NFC and enjoy 5 straight playoff appearances and 4 straight division titles and a Superbowl appearance like we did.. :)

Yep, this is one thing people like to ignore. The NFC doesn't have to mess with the Pats, Colts, and even Steelers. People act like it is easy to become better than those teams. But, pretty consistently they have homefield advantage locked down between them.

Here's a story about Bruse Coslet who had to testify at Blatt's trial.

FOOTBALL; Coslet Goes West To Take The Stand
By MICHAEL MARTINEZ,
Published: October 22, 1991
Given the texture and the scope of the murder trial at which he will testify this week, Jets Coach Bruce Coslet is just a small piece of a very large puzzle that has spanned one change of venue, one plea bargain, one mistrial and countless hours of court testimony without a verdict.

How much insight Coslet will offer in the trial of Michael Blatt, a 45-year-old former sports agent and wealthy developer from Stockton, Calif., is a mystery. But so is the slaying with which Blatt is charged.

Blatt, who briefly served as interim general manager of the Seattle Seahawks football team, is charged in the murder-for-hire death of Laurence Carnegie, a one-time business associate of his who was shot with a crossbow in late February 1989, then strangled and dumped down a hillside. The prosecution contends that Blatt ordered the killing in the belief that Carnegie had ruined his chances to be named the Seahawks' general manager on a full-time basis. Wow, he really wanted that job!

James Mackey and Carl Hancock Jr. admitted to killing Carnegie, 38, in exchange for a recommendation of parole, but they said they were hired by Blatt, who had feuded with Carnegie over business dealings. Mackey was a former football player at the University of the Pacific who knew Blatt through Blatt's sports agency; Hancock, one of Mackey's friends, is also a former Pacific player.

Coslet has been called by the prosecution, and is expected to testify Tuesday about his relationship with Blatt, which dates to the mid-1960's, when both attended Pacific. Coslet played football there and was later a coach at the university.

Because of a gag order, Coslet last week refused to discuss his role in the trial. According to the authorities in San Joaquin County, where the slaying occurred, Blatt planned, if named the Seattle general manager, to dismiss Chuck Knox as the Seahawks' coach and replace him with Coslet. OMFG! I'm glad that didn't happen!

But this never happened. Blatt's stint as interim general manager lasted three weeks, until the Seahawks' owners, Kenneth Behring and Kenneth Hoffmann, hired Tom Flores, the former Raiders coach, to be Seattle's president and general manager.

The prosecutor in the case, Eual Blansett, says that Coslet sent Blatt a note of condolence after Flores was selected to head the Seattle franchise. History of Conflict

There was apparently bad blood between Blatt and Carnegie. According to several news reports, the two had skirmishes involving their business interests. Carnegie had filed a lawsuit against Blatt over ownership of a condominium development.

The current trial of Blatt began Aug. 12 in Alameda County Superior Court and is expected to continue for several more months. Because of pretrial publicity in the Stockton area, where the murder took place, it was moved here.

The first trial of Blatt, which lasted five months, ended in a mistrial in October 1990. A jury deliberated two weeks but ended up locked at 9-3 in favor of conviction. Members of the jury reportedly questioned the credibility of Mackey and Hancock.

Blatt, charged with the special circumstance of murder for financial gain, at first faced the death penalty if convicted. But in the second trial, Blansett is seeking life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The judge in the first case, Frank Kim, initially prevented the prosecution from citing Blatt's unhappiness over failing to get the Seahawks' job as a possible motive for the killing. But the judge in the current trial, Duane Martin, has allowed Blansett to introduce that possibility. Killing to Curry Favor?

Blatt's lawyers maintain that Mackey, who reportedly admired Blatt, plotted and carried out the killing to win Blatt's favor. Mackey and Hancock must serve at least 16 years and 8 months of a 25-years-to-life sentence, after which they could be paroled. In the first trial, Mackey testified he received three payments from Blatt totaling $5,500. He said he paid Hancock $300 for his role. Mackey has yet to testify in the current trial.

Blatt helped arrange the sale of the Seahawks to Behring and Hoffman in late 1988. When the new owners later dismissed Mike McCormack as general manager, they replaced him with Blatt, who then began to run the team on a daily basis, although without an official title.

In the meantime, however, Behring and Hoffman privately met with Flores, agreeing to hire him as general manager on Feb. 8. It was not officially announced until Feb. 22, six days before Carnegie was killed.

In testimony last Thursday, Flores said he told Behring he would not accept the job unless he was given authority over everyone except the owners. "If he stayed, it would have to be under me," Flores said of Blatt. "They agreed."

Flores said he did not think that Blatt was aware of the owners' decision until he and Blatt met, for the first time, at Behring's home on Feb. 21. The testimony was intended to show that Blatt was aware he had been passed over for the job before Carnegie was killed.

Once the Chiefs are eliminated, you might as well hop on the Seahawks bandwagon, the most experienced playoff team in the NFC will probably be big underdogs against the Packers or Cowboys. This could be a particularly fun ride to the Superbowl..And you can say knew the Seahawks would pull it off all along making you look like a genios (cp spelling)

NO NO NO nO no no no to all of the above!! The Chiefs should stay in Kansas City. Overreact much?

KC Kings
12-12-2007, 08:28 AM
Not only no, but hell no. The history and tradition is a big part of Kansas City football.

Also, no expansion team would agree to come here to play in a 40 year old stadium. We would have to rebuild, and multiple studies show that building a stadium for a pro team does not make money for the city or improve the local economy enough to offset the cost of building. This last stadium upgrade bill was a joke, because the voters voted for the upgrades, which brings no more money to the area, but voted against the dome which would have garunteed a SB and paid for itself plus some...

Personally, I would not support sending the Chiefs off, and if we did some other county better be ready to pony up the money to build the new stadium. I can't see Jackson County voters, with an average income of less than $40k and 11.9% of them living below the poverty line, voting to start from scratch.
