I've been tailgating for a # of years in a certain spot. This is the 3rd year that I’ve opened it up and invited everyone from the Planet to stop by and say Hi or tailgate with their fellow Planet members.

Last time we did this everyone had a blast. First Down Elvis even performed a marriage ceremony at the tailgate.

We will have a grill you can use if you want to put on your own meat.

If you are not 100% sure you are coming and eating at the tailgate please don’t say you will be there. I’ll update this top post as needed.

Here's the site below where we set up each week. It's a great location next to the Tee-Pee gang. About 10 yards away is Stevieray/FDE’s tailgate set up, all the foot traffic going into Arrowhead, The Super fans always stop by. Great spot for first timers.

I drive a green explorer. We will be parked on the end of the row by the street in the handicap section. We will have a 10X10 Red Chiefs tent set up next to the explorer. X marks the spot.

Rumor mill is that the most popular Planeteer but rarely seen Rainman is coming to town for the game.

We may suck on the field. It's going to be cold. The Chiefs front office treatas us like dirt. Players are quiting etc. etc. but I gaurantee we will be having a good time at the tailgate. King Carl can't take that away from us.:harumph:

Last time we started off by everyone bringing their own meat but we ended up sharing a tailgate and everyone kicking in money to offset the cost.

You get there early. A lot of people are going to want to meet you and talk some Chiefs with ya.

Until this year about 8 out of 10 home games King Carl would walk right past our tailgate with a bunch of visitors in suits to show off the tee-pee gang and tailgating at Arrowhead. Almost like clockwork at 10:15 am. No one would give him chit that I saw.

I've not seen him this year.

Menu is still TBD. Last time we did the First Down Elvis Death Dogs but thats too much work for the wife during this busy time of the season and if you think I'm working for you.........your nuts.ROFL

We have a lot of out of towners so its not practical for them to bring in their own tailgating supplies. What say you Planeteers? Whatever is decided about what kind of food will be at the tailgateyou are cool with you'll chip in your share of the cost of the food?

If you say "I'll chip in and eat at the tailgate" I'll put those under the tailgaters catagory above. If not let me know and I'll put you in the stop by and say hay catagory.

We got a nice set up for tailgating. A fantastic spot. We have a system down now to put up and take down the tailgate pretty quickly.

I'm a very average food/BBQ tailgater. I'm just too lazy to really do it up right. What needs to happen is we need to get Phil to do the grub. Now thats some good BBQ. But he doesn't like the spot where me and Stevieray tailgate. He likes to be up away from the crowds. He's a loner you know.:p

Weather update:
It looks like the KC area will get 2-4 inches of snow late tonight and into Saturday afternoon. It won't melt until monday. So whatever falls will still be there on game day.

The Chiefs don't knock the snow off the seats or out fromn under the seats. They will clear the aisles only.

It really helps keep you warm if you bring a piece of cardboard and put on top of the snow and that way it keeps your feet out of the snow all game. I'll try to grab some extra cardboard.

Game Day
9:00 am 19 degrees and partly sunny

Kickoff and pretty much the rest of the day: 32 degrees and partly sunny

Awesome. This should really help with attendance.

I'm just glad I sit on the visitors side of the field. Not only do we sit in the sun for most of the game (if its out), but I also will not be tempted to throw snowballs at the Chiefs players, coaches and especially Carl Peterson, should he make an on-field appearance.

You had better get there earler than that. Even with a downsized crowd at that time there is a big traffic jam if you come in i-70. By the time you get through the traffic and get parked it could be time to go into the game and no tailgating time. Lots of n00bs make the same mistake. Just giving you a heads up.

Herm just stated on his interview with the pregame shows that the Chiefs didn't have a good year this year and we need to just get over it. Brilliant coach. Why don't we just get over you and ship your azz back East where it belongs. Perhaps the Dolphins will be looking for some coaches for next year. I think that would be a perfect fit for you Herm. Loser coach on a loser team. :cuss:

Could someone bring a couple of plastic bags for Herm and Carl to wear. Include some string so they can be tied off at the neck. Perhaps this will increase both of their thinking capacaties. And make sure and leave them on and not take them off. They only work the longer their over the head.

It was painful to see all the first timers experience Arrowhead at it's lowest point since the mid 80's. The tailgating, crowd vibe was way down. Even the tee-pee gang didn't kick out there enthusiam. But, we still had a lot of fun at the tailgate.

The game sucked but we knew that going into the day.

Everyone showed up from the Planet that said they would and some more stopped by unannounced. It's always very cool to meet people and put faces to names from the board. When people meet in person they always find that the other person is usually nicer, smarter and not so much of an A-hole in person as their online persona. Makes for a better experience online here in the off season when we have no football to watch.

I got to meet Rainman and spend the morning talking with him and his lovely wife. I think she's defintely the better half of that couple.ROFL But Rainman was just as cool in person as his online persona.

I wanted to be a major A-hole at the tailgate to maintain my reputation, but my wife wouldn't let me. :( Trust me, the guy you met in that parking lot is not the real me. I'm far worse than that. ;)

Even though the crowd was down and there wasn't much of a playoff atmosphere, it was still fun to meet all the planeteers who stopped by. Thanks to BigRedChief for making it possible.

How about telling us the United Airlines story.

Those mongoloids wouldn't let us on the plane home, because for some reason two tickets had been issued in my name instead of one for my wife and one for me. On the way out, the gate agent had noticed (we didn't), and just shrugged and said, "You might want to fix this on the way back." No big deal.

The mouth-breather in Kansas City then told us that to get my wife on the plane, we had to buy a third ticket at a last-minute walkup fare, and said that the name problem was "Orbitz's problem" and refused to fix what was obviously a typo. Orbitz tried to fix it immediately, but the gate agent refused to take my cell phone to talk to them because "they'll just ask me to change the name", and United's reservations phone number just said, "It's Orbitz's problem, not ours."

Eventually, the manager came out and said that they would issue a new ticket for a bribe of $100. (She called it a "ticket change fee", but let's call it what it really is.) After refusing, we eventually had no choice but to hand $100 to the corrupt person to use the ticket that we had already purchased.

I wrote a scathing expose on the cover of my inflight magazine. Future flyers in Seat 17F shall know my fury.

Henceforth, I am flying Frontier or Southwest or USAir or American or Delta or Thai Air or Alaska Airways or British Air or Northwest or AirTran or ATA or Air Zimbabwe or Aeroflot or Varig or any other airline I can find. I will cost United far more than the $100 that they stole from me.

Your always welcome to stop by. I know its a long trip for ya but it was cool to meet you and your buddies. Wish the team wouldn't have sucked so bad. That is ****ed up, I hope you get some kind of resolution to this through Orbitz. American would have been no different, I had a similar experience with them.
Living near Ohare, it is of great benifit to fly either United or American since their hubs are there.
I have learned the hard way, they penalize you for using Expedia/Orbitz when they get the opportunity.
However, my flight to Detroit last week on Northwest, made me long for United or American. Their boarding procedure turns into a pack of wild dogs and that is only the beginning.

Yeah, that's what I'm going to do, that or American or somebody. I've been boycotting Frontier because they didn't hire my firm to be their market research firm, but at the current time that is less of a sin than United's sin.

The older I get, the more companies I find myself boycotting.

I could have told you to avoid them before using them. I swore my last flight on them a year and a half ago and haven't flown with them since.

When I book a trip for work, sometimes the client/my company will ask "you couldn't find a cheaper flight than this?" and my response is typically "not without flying on United" and 90% of the time the response I get is "oh, no problem then, I understand". How they are still in business is beyond me.
