1, plus 1 warning. I've been lucky.

Hmmm? I haven't had one that has gone on my record for 15 years. Here in Montana on the highway, they spot you 10 MPH. In other words, you can do 85 in a 75 and if they pull you over, you get a $20 ticket, BUT it doesn't go on your record. 11 MPH or more, and they ding you. I am in North Dakota for the week and from what I am told, they are a little harsher about tickets.

None.

I've been pulled over once. It was July 4th, 2006. I was driving back up to Tampa from South Florida and got clocked at 88mph when the speed limit was 70. The cop wanted to talk and know who I was, where I was going, what I was doing in Tampa, etc. So I told him. I guess he was impressed, and since I never had a ticket before combined with it being 4th of July and all he let me go on a warning.

Just speeding or should I include all the other moving violations ?

I’m guessing 6, not all in the US either and there might be one or two I’m forgetting.
Though, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been pulled over on my scoot because it “sounded like” I was “getting on it.”

I got my 2005 Mustang and since then I've got 4 tickets and 2 warnings.

ChiefsCountry

12-13-2007, 10:31 AM
Uh, honestly can't remember. I got one a year for a long time, but it's been probably 8 years since I got the last one.

Somewhere around 8 or 10?

Frazod
12-13-2007, 10:33 AM
12, IIRC. I've never gotten gigged for a really bad one (knock on wood); most were for 70 in a 55. There was a time when I averaged one a year.

I was truly amazed that I never got one during the two years I had my red Mustang. I certainly didn't slow down.

Radar Chief
12-13-2007, 10:43 AM
Yeah...is it JUST speeding tickets?

Yea, that would kind of bump my total up a bit.
I know I have at least one for “failure to stop”, one for “careless driving” (I “drifted” the rear of my dad's truck around a corner and a cop didn’t care for it) and at least one, more likely two, for “exhibition of speed” (peeling out, popping a wheelie, whatever).

Four. 2 when I was 17 (used a lawer to get out of 1), 1 when I was 18 and 1 when I was 19.

Knock wood, I haven't had a ticket since Thanksgiving of my sophomore year of college. I was on my way back to school after the break when I saw my room mate pulled over. I pointed and laughed. I got mine about a half-hour later on the same highway. My buddy made sure to point and laugh at me too.

I'm 30. I got one the weekend I got my license for doing 92 in a 55. That was almost 15 years ago and the ticket was almost $300. I just got my 2nd one in April in Montana for doing 95 in a 75. $40. If you're gonna get pulled over for speeding, do it in Montana. They don't want all of your money. Just some.

One and it was total bullshit. I was driving the normal speed limit of 45 but it turned out there was load restrictions going on. In our county, load restrictions only apply to big rigs but I had just crossed over the county line and it turns out that that county applies it to everyone, so I get a $103 ticket for going 45 in a 25. :cuss: Totally a fund-raising endeavor for Spokane County.

I had one in Ohio while on a roadtrip... 15 plus construction zone, but by the time it got back to Kansas City it was like 10 over without the construction zone.

I've been warned a few times, and I'm surprised it's not more... just 10 mph over cuts off 30 minutes from Omaha to Kansas City.

I've averaged 1 per year for the last 25 years. More when I was younger and less now, but it still averages out.

Holy crap, get a radar detector (I wouldn't say slow down to anyone, because I'd never do that either).

I am shocked I don't get more. Interstates in Ohio are all 65 mph. I usually run 80-85. I haven't had a ticket in 5 years.

BTW the worst traffic screwjob I heard of was here in Douglas County.

It wasn't my ticket, but a friend of mine was in the local DA's office.

There was a lady who was traveling north on US-24 out of town. The speed limit goes up to 50 I think and there are signs. And then you are out of the city limits. But a little later I guess, the city limits cut back in. There's no sign, but the city ordinance says that in an unposted zone that the speed limit is 20.

So they mercilessless busted her for the 50/20.

One, back in '85 I think it was. I drove OTR for several years averaging 150k a year and the only awards I got were log book not being current. It's bad luck talking about it. I ran a Whistler radar detector and a police scanner.
In my early years, a couple unnecessary wheel spinning and one illegal pocession of alcohol. Officer noticed a bottle of Wild Turkey that came out from under the seat while writing one of the unnecessary tickets.

That would be skewed against those that drive predominatly in city traffic. So I think we should go with a total hours:total miles ration divided by days spent as a licensed driver.

Probably should normalize it against traffic enforcement rates in our local cities, too. I don't want to look bad just because the police prioritize traffic enforcement in my community.

That's after dropping $160 on dinner for SOMEBODY ELSE'S anniversary. It was a great meal, but damn. Wife's best friend and husband invite us out to dinner to celebrate their anniversary. We accept. Then we find out dinner's at Ruth's Chris Steak House. I'm not sure whether they're inviting us with the intent of paying or not, but it's rude to ask. When the check comes, I find out we're splitting. $160 was just our half - of course, that includes the bar tab - they were drinking, and we weren't, but again, I get to wear the great big dickhead hat if I say anything, so I keep quiet. We hemorrhaged cash over their goddamned wedding last December (who gets married three days before Christmas, anyway?), and here we are needlessly dumping cash over them again this year.

Then my wife's friend, who has something of a princess complex to begin with, gets all bitchy later. Over what, I don't know. Don't really care much at this point, either. We cut out and head home, and BOOM $75 ticket, which will probably turn into $105 if I want supervision to keep it off my driving record.
