According to reports, the Kansas City Chiefs are cutting ties with right tackle Chris Terry. A second-round pick in the 1999 draft, Terry is being released after a season and a half with the Chiefs.

Originally drafted by the Carolina Panthers, Terry briefly played for the Seattle Seahawks before signing with the Chiefs halfway through the 2006 season. He was expected to be a strong competitor for Kansas City’s right tackle spot and received an opportunity to win the job in training camp, but could never get a firm grasp on the position.

Veteran Kyle Turley entered the season as the starter instead. This season, according to stats.com, Terry allowed seven sacks in 11 games, and was penalized six times, including five false starts.

This is likely the beginning of a projected shakeup of a Chiefs offensive line that has struggled all season long. Kansas City’s offensive attack has been hobbled by the line’s inability to open holes in the running game or protect the passer.

Terry’s release gives the Chiefs an opportunity to get a good look at up and down prospect Will Svitek, who has played at left tackle mostly but will start on the right side against the Tennessee Titans today.

I saw that Turley was OUT as a team decision. Haha, we're retooling our right side and the season isn't even over yet....

Indeed. Although, I thought it would be after the season, but hell...might as well see what Captain NFL Europe can do at the right side, its obvious he is not ready to be a LT

A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.

Even more Eastern thought for this up coming offseason:

If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading.

The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are.

There are two mistakes one can make along the road to truth...not going all the way, and not starting.

Well, duh?

PR move number #423.

How is this different than cutting a kicker?

If they cut two more players after we lose to the Titans, I'll know they are serious.

Probably. And he'll happily introduce our new starting QB, Chad Pennington.

Note to Terry - I hope you paid attention back in college, because if you get cut from this offense, your NFL career is OVER.

Note to Terry No. 2 - 4321

Will Svitek isn't any better so hey...

Brian Baldinger has been on NFLN this weekend giving Svitek quite the verbal handjob. "He's only going to get better", "he's still learning", etc. etc. etc.

So where are these "reports" the WPI story is citing, anyway?

We have certain sources that feed us information. You'll see it on KFFL in a few hours I imagine. We just put it up first.

This happened about 6 games too late, its really too bad...i thought he looked very solid in limited duty last year...but he regressed instead of building on that.

That has nothing to do with talent & everything to do with being mentally lax.

His NFL career is over, if you cant help this team...you cant help anyone.

HIlarious Responses.

People have been complaining because people like Terry were playing on this team. Then he gets cut, and there are the regular responses that it took too long, was just a PR move, etc. Even when Carl/Herm do something right and cut dead weight, you guys will still find something to bitch about.

You're right, of course, Mr. doomy3. This is a good move and the organization should be congratulated.

Congratulations, organization!!

2nd, no reason he should be back there next week. Kennison and Sapp have proven they can run into a wall as well as Drummond can and they occasionally catch it also.

While a excellent point, Drummond is also a key in ensuring our total incomptence, not to mention wasting a roster spot for a younger player.
