Chiefs are working a "sign & trade" deal to send Jared Allen to the Colts for Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison. Also, the Chiefs have designated their replacement for Allen:

• Jets // The team released defensive end Eric Hicks (Maryland). Hicks, 31, was signed as an unrestricted free agent in May after he spent his first nine seasons with the Chiefs.
