Most likely Portland and Eugene. Old friend of mine lives near Eugene haven't seen him since the early 90's. This will be my first trip to OR but my GF has lived there in the past and wants to move there again. This will be our 1 year 'anniversary' of our first date. So I am having a tourism guide sent to me. Just wanted some planet input on anything to do or avoid. June 13-17

That's a nice time to be there. You'll probably think it's paradise. I know I did the two summers I went. To get an accurate picture, you need to go in the spring/fall/winter.

drive up the Columbia River Gorge(stop by the waterfall) and drive down the coast.

I was in Portland at the end of last June, my first time. Weather was fine. Rained 1 day pretty much the entire day, but just spotty showers one other day on the trip. Temperature was low to mid-70s.

I only spent a Thurs-Mon, and Thurs/Fri were a business trip, and I'm not sure how much time/freedom you'll have. I'd recommend hitting downtown, especially Powell's (http://www.powells.com) if either one of you reads much. The place is amazing.

If you've got the time, head to the coast for a day. We did Portland -> Seaside -> Canon Beach -> Tiallmook -> Portland. Beautiful drive, but plan to spend a whole day doing that. I'd probably recommend bagging Seaside (think Niagra Falls, Branson, and Asbury Park had sex and the spawn settled on the west coast. Maybe not that bad, but just a tourist trap beach town.) and Tillamook (unless you or someone you know is BIG on dairy) and just do Canon Beach. Some good restaurants and a really nice wine shop there with a friendly owner. Also a great place to go to the beach.

Lastly, depending on your interest and (again) time constraints, we spent one day in Seattle. Just pretty much did downtown/Pike Place Market/the Waterfront. The S.A.M. Olympic Sculpture Park (http://www.seattleartmuseum.org/visit/OSP/) is as good as advertised. Cool aquarium, more great restaurants (Alderwood Smoked Salmon is great and cheap if you're into no frills but good), cruise the sound (do the ferry to Bainbridge Island for WAAAAYYY cheaper than the overpriced tourist cruises), catch a Mariners game if you can/want...I'm sure Joe would have more/better info if you are interested in that. I gotta say, I was much more into Seattle than Portland, but ymmv.

She's all for it. She hates Oregon.

There's a great restaurant/bar in downtown Portland off Alder called Jake's that is a Portland staple. I highly recommend checking it out. Also, if you are into cigars, you can smoke them there in the evenings and there is a great cigar shop a block away called Rich's that can set you up with some sticks.

I agree with what Chest Rockwell said about the coast - I lived there for over 5 years - it's not bad, but do plan on burning a whole day. Personally, I'd rather spend my time in downtown Portland because there is so much more to do there.

BTW,

It might be a different Chief fan from AZ, but in case it's you who is into jambands and such:

You should check out the Barley Mill (http://www.mcmenamins.com/index.php?loc=10), which is a Grateful Dead themed microbrewery.

Also check out the Bagdad (http://www.mcmenamins.com/index.php?loc=9&id=177), which is a theater/microbrewery. It usually shows interesting movies, and you can eat pizza and drink beer while you watch them.

The pub/restaurant/theater concept is one of the BEST...IDEAS...EVAR. I'm constantly perplexed as to why it hasn't caught on more places. I used to go to Brewvies (http://www.brewvies.com/) when I was living in Salt Lake City, and a big plate o' nachos, a pitcher of Captain Bastard's Oatmeal Stout, and a picture was always an outstanding evening.

Not me that's into jam bands. I've had phases just that one didn't stick. But the movie thing sounds like a great night out.

Im the fan in AZ met Trent's mom in Tempe at McDuffy's her and a friend were there having a couple drinks while watching a Chiefs pre season game.

Ahh, gotcha.

Also be sure to drink lots of Deschutes beer while you're there. You might be able to find it in AZ, but we don't get any down this way. Black Butte Porter is amazing.

Anyone that comes to visit I take to Mt. St. Helens first and foremost. It's absolutely breathtaking seeing what Mother Nature is capable of.

Multnomah Falls is east of Portland maybe 30 miles but is part of the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Area. If you go that far you just as well stop in at one of the damns and watch the fish go thru the ladders.
And if you want to make a day of it keep heading east and then south to Mt. Hood. There's summer time gondolas that take you almost to the top and some other activities.

The Oregon Coast is one of the most beautiful in the country. I might suggest if you're down in Eugene visiting head west for the coast. If you like riding ATV's head south to the Coos Bay area and rent a couple rides. The dunes are some of the best.
Or head north up the coast, it's breathtaking. If you like to fish, plan ahead and book a trip out on the ocean and bottom fish or salmon, sturgeon fish. It's a blast out on the ocean, especially when everybody on the boat limits out you're guaranteed to take some fish home.

Lots of microbreweries.

People need to remember the reason it's so beautiful up here is because of all the rain. You get used to it. It's not like back there, it's like a mist, only 24 hours a day. Very seldom do we get the gulley gushers that are the normal back there. I don't care for the weather when visiting western Kansas now and it's either 100+ or below 30 and the wind's blowing 30 mph. I think I've had to scrap ice on the windows 3 times this winter. We did have a tornado touch down yesterday, about 10 miles from here. Only two times has there been any kind of tornadic weather in the past 15 years I've been here.

If you'd like any more ideas suited to your taste, I might be able to help. gottabmopar at comcast dot net.
