It's probably not appropriate to laugh at this for several reasons, but I did a little...

Kansas City , MO (AP) - A seven-year old boy was at the center of a
Jackson County courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court
ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of
being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to
his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring
that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him
more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When
the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy
cried and said that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning
that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the
judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who
should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the Child
welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the
Kansas City Chiefs, whom the boy firmly believes are not
capable of beating anyone.

What's worse for me, is that this year there are also Nebraska versions of this one, the powdery substance one and the tornado one that keep making their way into my e-mail inbox, as well as the NU message boards. They won't go away.

Maybe if they changed the little boy to a little girl?

Or, a little midget boy. That would be pretty funny (just thinking about him getting his ass kicked all the time, I mean).

What cracks me up is that day after day somebody will post something like this that they received in an email or heard from some smart-aleck friend and they HONESTLY think "Hmmm...I bet NOBODY on CP has heard THIS ONE!!!" and they rush in and post it thinking that they will be the first in on this "hot topic". Hilarious.
Heck, the guy that pointed out your repost has over FIFTY THREE THOUSAND posts....what else does he have to do?

(no offense jilly)

Jilly, if you would just listen to your husband and do whatever he tells you to do, things like this wouldn't happen.

:sulk: Oh I'm so offended I might actually kill myself now. I think that's why the thread was titled as it was, Stop me if you've heard this one...." I figured.

My great grandfather heard that one when he was five, and he was sick of it halfway through the joke.
