You have to remember that Sims was a Robinson and Vermeil pick. Neither of them knew much about defense. ;)
Sims was a pick based on potential. He put up great stats at North Carolina playing with Julius Peppers drawing double teams. And how many of the Chiefs draft picks from the last 10 yrs of guys they said were raw and had great potential have actually worked out. Yes, I know what he meant. I said to look at the context of it. He clearly says he's guessing about the draft and then presents the "shocking news" item in the "What I CAN tell you" manner to make it clear that he isn't guessing. Like he knows something.

Coming on the heels of the Dorrell mess, this would get everyone thinking "Hmm, maybe Nick does know something. I wonder what it is!" You wouldn't have started this to pass on brainless vague junk from Nick, because it just would have been laughed at and mocked. Kinda like what's happening anyway.

But all Nick actually knows is this comment that "there are plans that might surprise the fan base". In other words, nothing. And to fill the space that the nothing occupies, he's over there speculating on what the news is based on his own interpretation of the eyeballs of the person who told him.

What I can tell you is a source inside the Chiefs' organization related some shocking news. This team has plans that might surprise the fan base. Of all the things I learned this week, that might be the most exciting.

He wanted us to think he had the inside dish. "Shocking news", he called it. "Exciting", he called it. How is he telling us how exciting and shocking it is when, as we now know, he doesn't even know what the plans are?

What's especially misleading is that he turns the "this team has plans..." part into it's own line, rather than going "a source related some shocking news: this team has plans". The latter makes it clear that the shocking news is that the team has plans. As it's actually written, you can take "the team has plans" as Nick knowing the news and being coy.

It's not a teaser, either. There's no more information on this issue anywhere on our website.

What about Nick's analysis of his source's eyes? Don't discount that! Well worth the $99, I'm sure.
