Got two e-mails from my pal Ange at "Remember the AFL" web site.
One story about Chiefs adding the AFL patch permanently to the uniform, and a second story about great Chiefs safety Johnny Robinson:

Enjoy, and if you like these kinds of stories, you can e-mail Ange and get on the e-mail list:

Hello, AFL fans and former players:

Great news! AFL fan Stu Yager has sent me the following link. It says that the "AFL-Lamar Hunt" patch worn by the Chiefs in 2007 will become a PERMANENT part of their uniform. My congratulations to Clark Hunt, Pete Moris and the rest of the Chiefs' administration for making this a reality. That too-seldom seen American Football League logo will now be on TV every time the Chiefs play, as long as they exist.

If only every former team would wear the patch permanently, as well.

This move by the Chiefs is rather ironic. I wrote many letters to Lamar Hunt pleading that the AFL retain its name and logo after "the merger". Among them was one in which I urged that, if the AFL couldn't keep its name, at least every former American Football League team should wear a permanent AFL patch on their uniforms. Mr. Hunt, in his gentle way, suggested that he didn't think that should be done, because "it would make the uniforms 'too busy'". I'm glad the junior Mr. Hunt saw it differently, and I now urge the Chiefs to lobby all their former American Football League adversaries to add an AFL patch to their jerseys. The Chiefs could wear the AFL-LH patch, and the others could simply wear the AFL logo, although it wouldn't be inappropriate for all former AFL teams to wear the "LH" as well, since those teams would not have existed if it were not for Lamar Hunt.

PS to Pete Moris: Please pass this on to Mr. Clark Hunt. Thanks

Regards,

Ange Coniglio

Folks:

I forgot to mention a great article about Johnny Robinson, sent to me by the Texans/Chiefs' Smokey Stover. To see the article, go to my item at:

http://www.conigliofamily.com/TexansChiefs.htm#JOHNNYROBINSON

and click on LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY. Read the article, and then tell me: "WHY isn't Robinson in the 'pro football' Hall of Fame?"

Also, I have posted a Guest Essay at the bottom of:
http://www.remembertheafl.com/AFLGuestEssays.htm

and a fan e-mail at the bottom of
http://www.remembertheafl.com/AFLGuestBook.htm.

These are two impassioned messages, one about the AFL in general, and one about the Oilers in particular; and an interesting point about them is that one is from a fan in Maryland, the other from a fan in Virginia. Yes, Virginia, there were AFL fans all over the country!

Regards,

Ange Coniglio

That's awesome.

My dad has ranted for years that it's a sin Robinson isn't in the HOF.

I'd pay to get Johnny's autograph on a mini-helmet for my pops.

He was scheduled to be in KC a few years ago, been ended up suffering a stroke and (obviously) didn't appear.

Hope he's still doing well health wise.
