I think his name was George Daney,he wore #60 and was a backup guard for the Chiefs. He was thrown out of a preseason game for fighting in the early 70's.Went to the bench, switched jerseys with another player and went back into the game.lasted a few plays before the refs found out.

That is the only time I can remember the Chiefs doing wrong.

Grunhard recounts a story of having found a playbook of an opposing team staying in the same hotel.

Said it contained the opposing teams first 15 plays.

It wasnt his fault that he found it. So would it really be cheating?

Seems like a lot of trouble to go to in order to keep a 2nd string guard in a preseason game. I don't remember preseason games being televised in the early 70's.

Jimmy Johnson, after seeing the tape from the Patriots (showing the camera guy going from the down and distance info on the scoreboard, to the guy calling defensive signals) said that that was exactly how he was taught to do it by a Chiefs scout.

I'll see if I can find the quote.

EDIT: Here it is:

After seeing the footage, former Cowboys and Dolphins coach Jimmy Johnson - who works as a host on Fox's pregame show - said on the show: "This is exactly how I was told to do it 18 years ago by a Kansas City Chiefs scout. I tried it, but I didn't think it helped us."

Only if they used it to gain an advantage in the game. In that case it is cheating regardless of how he came on it. The non-cheating thing to do would be to return it without looking at it. I'm amazed at the lack of integrity these days. I shouldn't even have to explain this to people.

What if it was found by Neil Smith or Eddie Freeman or some other guy who can't read?

Preseason? I'm outraged. The Chiefs should be stripped of all their preseason titles.

Cheaters never win.

So this actually explains a lot.

Back in the late 60's and early 70's, we used to get alot of Chiefs games here in NJ. It might have been a Gov's Cup game against the Cards.
