2 Free agents and the first 3 rounds. What is your dream scenario? I'm going to do a little wishfull thinking but heres mine.
RD 1 Dorsey DT
RD 2 Williams LT
RD 3 Doucet WR

FA
Faneca OG
Samuels CB

Past that let the chips fall, but this is my dream scenario for the quickest impact for next season and beyond.

No on Faneca. We are trying to get younger. He's the opposite of younger...

hello to Ellis or J Long - a kick ass safety

Faneca or Lilja would be great. Faneca has a good 5 years left and our line needs leadership. round 2 and 3 are a little on the reach side but not inconcievable.

If we take a DT, Ellis is probably the best fit. Ellis looks like a monster "under" tackle in a cover 2 system

draft:
1.Ellis DT
2.Sam Baker, OT
3.best CB on the board

I've immediately addressed the right side of the line with youngish talent (both with SB rings as starters, both will be 27 this year) and I've addressed the future at LT. Mac will either beat out the youngster or not, but either way, we'll have depth and a future there.

I've added a stud to the defensive line to help what will still probably be an iffy secondary with a monster pass rush and shore up the run defense as well.

Cover 2 type corners aren't as high demand as bump'n'run man corners, so we'll continue to restock that position with mid round picks until it's solid.

Not bad, I think.

I love your draft, and can't argue with your FA signings.

But I would think about Tavares Gooden in the third, and look for Jordan Gross and Jake Scott to shore up the right side of the OL in free agency.

Either way though, I think we'd be taking huge strides in the right direction

Isn't Doucet a 1st rounder?

For those of you selecting the OT in the second round, what if a very good CB like Rodgers-Cromartie fell to that spot.

That's where you have measure value

A guy like Chris Williams is a better value in the second, and with his strength and quickness could be a hell of a LT for years.

You also have to look at Charles Godfrey, who is raw, and was poorly utilized at Iowa, as a guy in the third round that has the potential to be as good as Rogers-Cromatie, and will be better in run support than Rogers-Cromatie.

Gooden would be a good get in the 3rd. Donnie Edwards has one more year in him, IMO.

I think the only reason I went with Faine and Bell is that if we we're able to get Williams, (or another OT) we're set on the line, without having to move Waters to center, or trust Niswanger with the line calls.

McIntosh
Waters
Faine
Bell
Williams

Or reverse the tackles and play Williams at LT.

Like I said, I like your draft.

I also don't want to move Waters to center, but really don't unstand the concern of playing Niswanger at center.

I get that he's young and would have a learning curve, but since he was an academic all conference player he's smart, and it fits nicely in the plan to get younger and build for the future.

While I'm also ok with the idea of using McIntosh for another season at LT, if we drafted Williams, I would want to start him from day one at LT and let him grow and develop there.

We'd also get a pretty fair idea if he will be the answer to that position for the next 10 years.

FA- Starks

I personally think Gailey is going to push for Faneca though... and I think Lemis Sweed might fall to the 2nd round too.

I personally wouldn't have a problem with Niswanger at center, I'm just thinking that if THEY thought he was the COTF, they would have played him there, instead of guard.

Regardless, we're on the same page, just different players.

Either would be a move in the right direction.

I'm satisfied with Page and Pollard growing into the postion, especially if we get a DT to help them.
