What would you have done?

I woke up at 4:45 this morning to some loud thud sounds. Then I hear this girl sobbing and screaming. I couldn't tell if it was the apartment who I share a bedroom wall with or the one above me. At one point I heard her scream "Don't touch me!" and "I don't want to hurt you, and I don't want you to hurt me!" This lasted for an our and a half. I heard both of them yelling and a lot of curse words flying, but I couldn't tell exactly what it might have been about. I thought about going over, but 1) I wasn't sure which apartment it was and 2) as a female, I didn't want to get in the middle of some domestic dispute. I thought about call security or knocking on the wall, but, again, I wasn't 100% for sure which apartment it was. What would you have done?

There was also a definite "I hate you!" followed by a "Good!". I don't think there was any physical abuse going on. I could hear what sounded like someone was packing (very loudly), and then more arguing.

Before calling the cops, that’s what I would’ve done. Give them the chance to resolve it themselves.
If that didn’t work, then I’d call the cops.

No way. I don't have anyone to leave anything to anyway, all the repairs are taken care of, I only pay electric, my cable and internet are included, no yard to take care of, no property taxes. I'm happy renting until there's someone to provide a second income. I realize the advantages of having equity. I'm just fine cleaning my one bedroom apartment for now.

We used to have a couple that every weekend would get likkered up and fight. One time they were rolling around on the ground punching each other. The really sad part of it they had 2 little girls. We had called the police once about it and the little girls come up to our house and told us, "don't call the police on our mommy and daddy, they will take us away from them and we don't want to lose them." I felt so bad for the kids to have to see and put up with it. And so sad that their kids were so frightened about being taken away. A small town so cops never really did anything. I think they finally split up but scarred their kids for life.
