I have a Smith & Wesson "Chief's Special" CS9 handgun that I want to sell in order to purchase a Glock 19C (wife says I can only have 1).

I have never sold a handgun before and wanted to see if there was anyone here with advice on the easiest (yet still legal) way to sell it.

Its a good little gun, I just enjoy shooting the Glock's more.

9mm
3" barrel
7+1 capacity
black (or properly called blue)
has had only about 300 total rounds shot through it

Any suggestions???

Once you agree on a price, pull your gun on the buyer and make him give you more.

Of course, recognize that he'll get the gun after that.

Not quite the advice I was looking for...

sell it to a gambling addict, then, when he is down on his luck, buy it back cheap. Tell your wife that it was too good of a deal to pass up. Then you get to have both.

Spread the word to friends, co-workers etc. and maybe you can just sell it to one of them. No worries or difficulties then I would not think. Just some sort of a transfer of ownership paper work I would think.

Lie to your wife and keep it in your car.

go into a gun store, wait for someone wanting to buy a gun now. When the clerk says they can't sell a gun to them before they have a license, follow the upset customer out the door and offer him your gun at black market value.

You asked your wife if you could get a second gun?:shake:

You need to emphasise to your wife the need for a Right hand gun and a Left hand gun. By designating a right hand and a left hand, technically you'll have one of each.

Actually, most gun dealers are willing to consider trade-ins and sometimes can give you a pretty good deal on trade. If the dealer you are talking to won't trade, shop around. Glocks are common enough that someone in a big town like Vegas should have a dealer that has one that will trade.

Grow a pod, keep the gun and buy yourself the Glock. Never sell a good gun.

Wives come and go. Firearms last forever. Let's weigh some pros and cons:

You can leave a gun at home if you don't feel like carrying it; Wives argue when you don't want to take them out.

You can have sex with a wife; with a gun, you can have sex with whomever you want.

All it takes to get a gun "ready to go" is your thumb; Wives? Well some require four fingers..........

All states have different laws. I would call your local sherrif's office. I like guns too much to do something that might jeopardize my ability to have them in the future. Good luck. Jeff

When you take a wife to the mall, you have to fight the crowds. When you take a gun to the mall, people get out of your way.

First, make your wife sell all her jewelry except one ring or one necklace. If she's not willing to do that, you're entitled keep any guns you can afford.

I suspect the logic will be totally lost on her.

Tell her the trade in value is insulting, and that you'll be better off keeping it and just buying the new one.

I'll give you $50, cash.

Called it right there.

I am waiting to hear back a ballpark estimate from the local shop that I plan to buy the Glock from. They are clsoed today. Soonest I can take it down to him is Thursday.

I did go to Bass Pro Shops "Fine Gun Room" here in Las Vegas and they said they would give $300-$325 for it (the main guy to quote wasnt there hence the ballpark range).

This would be fine with me. But I would rather just deal with one place since if I sell it to Bass Pro now, then I have to give them my "blue card" (Nevada Handgun Permit - not a Concealed Permit). Then I would have to wait the 3 days Nevada requires when I buy the new one. But, if I take care of it all at the same time, my proof that I have already cleared the background check removes this limit.

So we will see. Worst case scenario, I sell it to Bass Pro Shops and then buy the Glock waiting the 3 days.

Is that difficult to go 3 days without a firearm?

No, I am just impatient. I like having my gun at home, under my bed, ready to go just in case...

No, I am just impatient. Its like when I make the choice to buy a new piece of electronics, or other cool thing. I do not want to wait any longer.

I'll give you $800 for it. I'm sending my friend to meet you at the park by the pavillion. Bring the gun in a brown paper bag.

Point out that she has more than 1 purse.

Tell her this gun matches your brown blazer better and the new one will compliment your casual dress.

And the "pointing" out of the purse... should I use the gun while loaded, saftey off and 1 in the chamber to do said pointing???

If you drive into Swope Park around 10pm on Saturday night, you should be able to sell it in about 10 minutes.

Important safety tip -- Don't sell to RaiDUH fans, for two reasons. One, the possible result, and, two, hell, they already OWN arsenals. They don't NEED one mo' gun.

My brother has a pretty good theory he uses to make these decisions, thats worked out so far.

When he wants to or is considering doing something of which his wife may not approve, he asks the following question: "will she divorce me if I buy this......." If the answer is no....he likely acquires the item, or goes to the location.

When I'm debating something, and recently debated buying a pistol, that was his only question. "will she divorce you if you buy the gun? No, fug it....I'll go pick you up some boxes of bullets so we can shoot it tonight"

So I went down to a local place that was recommended to me by my Metro friends, Spurlock Gun Shop.

first, GREAT people to deal with.

They gave me $375 trade in on my CS9 and charged me $510 for the Glock 19C. So with tax and when all is said and done, I will be spending $200 to get the gun I really want and I should have it by tomorrow.
