ORLANDO, Fla. – Four newspapers won the coveted Triple Crown in the Associated Press Sports Editors' writing and section contests that ended Wednesday.

The Kansas City Star was the only newspaper in the over-250,00 circulation division to win Top 10 recognition for its daily, Sunday and special sections. Last year, five newspapers in that division swept; this year only the Star did it, earning its third Triple Crown in five years.

The Star has assembled a pretty amazing staff of writers. The young guys working there are awesome -- Bill Reiter and Dean Babb. Posnanski is the best of the best too.

The Star is one of the best sports newspapers in the country. Everytime I travel I always pick up a local paper just to compare and most cases its not even close.

JoePo got quite a few top 10 finishes. JW even grabbed one in the "Columns" category.

JoPo is probably the best sports writer I've ever read (and I'm over 40). He deserves everything he gets.
