No McFadden to the ATL.

The Jets should draft him.

Possibly bad news for our pick, but then I don't think they'd have taken McFadden, anyway.

McFadden will be a Raider next year

Possibly.

But I could see this setting them up to take Ryan.

I think that you're right, all their offseason moves seem to point towards it. Hopefully Davis will live another twenty years.....

That realistically sets up the debate of Matt Ryan or Jake Long to ATL.

If I'm Atlanta, I take Long and get a QB in a later round.

If Ryan is deemed a consensus top 5 pick when all is said and done, that's where they'll go. They need a new hyped QB to take the residual attention away from Vick once and for all. Ryan and Turner are a nice new start for them.

Except that Atlanta need a "face of the franchise" and a d-lineman or o-lineman doesn't necessarily provide that.

I'm suspecting that Arthur Blank is pushing for Ryan.

They also need someone to block for that "face." Their OL is in shambles.

Taking Long, then someone like Henne, Brohm or Flacco in the 2nd is MUCH better value for them than taking Ryan @ 3.

Turner and Norwood will be a very good backfield if they can put anything resembling an offensive line in front of them.

There's no doubt in my mind that your scenario is the correct course of action for the Falcons.

I just believe that Arthur Blank won't take this course, due to his love affair with "Superstars".
