NATIONAL ENQUIRER WORLD EXCLUSIVE: PATRICK SWAYZE HAS 5 WEEKS TO LIVE

Patrick Swayze has five weeks to live, The NATIONAL ENQUIRER has learned.

Published on: 03/05/2008

In a shocking world exclusive, The NATIONAL ENQUIRER has uncovered the devastating news that the beloved Hollywood actor (http://www.nationalenquirer.com/patrick_swayze_cancer_weeks_live/celebrity/64581#) and dancer was diagnosed in late January with pancreatic cancer (http://www.nationalenquirer.com/patrick_swayze_cancer_weeks_live/celebrity/64581#) that has spread to other organs.

Full details are in the print edition of the NATIONAL ENQUIRER that goes on sale tomorrow.

For the past month, Patrick, 55, has been traveling to Stanford University's prestigious cancer center in Palo Alto for radical chemotherapy, but his doctors are no longer optimistic that the treatments will be successful.

Patrick and his wife Lisa Niemi — who both have pilot's licenses — have been flying their private Beechcraft plane into Palo Alto's airport, minutes away from the Stanford Cancer Center, where the actor has received outpatient treatment.

He received three doses of chemotherapy and the tumor shrank, but less than his doctors had hoped for — and Patrick was told he should prepare for the end.

"He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure," said an insider.

The man who danced into the hearts of audiences worldwide in the 1980s in Dirty Dancing and then broke them in the poignant love story Ghost in the early '90s has lost more than 20 pounds in the past few weeks and is restricted to a liquid diet (http://www.nationalenquirer.com/patrick_swayze_cancer_weeks_live/celebrity/64581#) because he has trouble keeping down solid food, added the insider.

"It's time to start praying for a miracle."

Am trying to figure out if you saw the source and think it's a joke, or if you think this is real.

That sucks bad for him. My grandpa died from pancreatic cancer... its essentially untreatable and also happens to be one of the most painful of all cancers. His last weeks will not be comfortable, unfortunately.

But a "very good source" reportedly told blogger Perez Hilton that Swayze has seemed fine lately.

"Patrick has been at rehearsals for a new cheerleading movie at Century City studio frequently lately, and he definitely does not look like he has 5 more weeks of life left…i'm not sure of his medical condition(s), but if he is gravely ill, he is hiding it very well," the source wrote."

1. It was the enquirer for chrissakes.

2. The above was from that same link, Fox News.

3. If he's doing a Cheerleading movie then all bets are off anyway.

Pancreatic cancer got my father-in-law about a decade ago. There's no way to screen for it, by the time they find it you're already a goner. It's not pretty.

Wow, I was just talking to my ex high school girlfriend last night who had a huge crush on him.

I asked her if she was going to be able to make it if he ever died. I think I jinxed him.

I dug Swayze back in his heyday 87-91

Dalton, Bodi, Johnny Castle and Sam Wheat are iconic roles.

Actually, the National Enquirer breaks a ton of celebrity news. Apparantly this is true, its all over the web right now.

Story confirmed by publicist, but she says it may not be quite as dire as the Enquirer originally reported.

I hope Swayze can fight through this, he has always seemed like a stand-up guy who didn't take himself too seriously. I'll be rooting for him.

Unfortunately, no one fights through pancreatic cancer. It's as sure a killer as we know.

Dang, median survival of 4-6 months, 95% mortality over 5 years.

That's a rough one.

Yep, it's a death sentence. Make no mistake about it.
