I think if we get him on the cheap he'd be worth a shop behind Larry, what do you think? Yes or No

I like Smith and I'm not a big fan of the $$$ Jones will likely get.

"worth a shop"

Umm.... I mean worth a shot.

Thats pretty ironic if the Chiefs pick him up, that is who Detroit picked in our spot when we traded down for Junior and Samie Parker.

Depends on what he wants.

We do need a third RB, but that's so low on our list of priorities.

nope. Kolby Smith proved to be a very viable backup.

If he would sign for min I would be all for it.

Wasn't that lineman that the Chiefs picked up on waivers a guy that the Dolphins selected with a pick the Chiefs traded to them?

Carl had a plan.

Absolutely not.

I chose no, but if he wants to play for the vet min, we could use him on a 3rd down because Kolby's hands are bad.

unless he can play Oline..........no.

How about picking him up, and then trade his ass for draft picks?

What would he be worth? Did Detroit try this?

A backup RB really needs to be a contributor on special teams.

While I like the idea of Jones' talent and experience as a backup, I don't
think he's proven healthy enough to play special teams, and stay on the field
for his carries. He's also going to be too expensive for that role.

We won't sign him anyway, he'll go to a team that could use him. Wonder if Denver will try for him

No. Why do some of you guys keep insisting we go after other teams trash??

I'd rather see them take a flier on a RB for depth with potential....maybe someone like Oman from NWMSU.

To parphrase an old saying, to Chiefs fans, another team's thrash is the Chiefs' treasure.

Hey another Oman fan. He should be available as a late round pick or sign as a free agent after the draft if no one drafts him. I used to work with Jessie Haynes. It was really sad that he couldn't make it. Would love to see a Bearcat make it on K.C.

Oakland will sign him.

I think if KC could get Kevin Jones with an inexpensive contract, it would be good. I don’t think that will happen though. Jones wants to go somewhere where he has a chance to be the starter. That is not going to happen with the Chiefs.

Probably far more likely to happen for Kansas City is a free agent signing like Samkon Gado. He is still 25 years old and can be signed to an inexpensive contract. In 5 years he has 942 yards 11 TDs with rushing and 39 receptions, 268 yards and 1 TD with receiving. He had a couple of 100 yard rushing games with Green Bay and as an NFL backup has provided some decent work. Former Chiefs running backs coach James Saxon liked him when he was here and he was only forced out by KC having too many running backs to make room for him.

If Kansas City signs Gado, I think they still would consider drafting a second day running back to compete for that third running back spot between Gado and Jackie Battle. I think a contract with Kevin Jones would probably commit them to keeping Jones for two to three years.

Detroit’s cut of Kalimba Edwards might also interest Kansas City. At 6’6”, 265 lbs and 28 years old, he could be used to help out at defensive end. Since he is a former 1st round draft pick though he and his agent may want more money than Kansas City should give him though. Like Kevin Jones, he also probably wants to go somewhere that he can start. As long as Allen and Hali are here, he won’t get that.

IF...he can regain some semblance of what he was after the latest big injury, he'll be an awesome pickup (first time i watched him, he only gained 30 maybe 40 yards all game & STILL looked great) for someone else that is.

For reasons already mentioned, he's just not a good fit for .
