D.T. should be in the HOF-it's ****ing ridiculous that Gretz can't even make a presentable argument to get him in the HOF.

How much you want to bet he's the only guy on the program who'll never make it to the Hall.

It isn't Gretz's fault the voters can't see what's right in front of them. The "argument" should be "Look at this video and vote accordingly".

I wish there was a way to see Gretz's presentation.

All that would do is make us more angry.

Yeah, good or bad, you're right. I'd still like to see Gretz make his argument, and critique the job he's doing. Hell, I'd fly in Troy Aikman, Warren Moon, Brett Favre, and John Elway to get their opinion on if Derrick is HoF worthy.

The one guy that has been most vocal about being "Eh" on Derrick making the Hall is Dr. Z. Derrick must have pissed that grumpy old fart off sometime back.

Gretz ought to tel Dr Z that Derrick had a vineyard that produced a few wonderful vintages.

Either that or send him a couple bottles of Boone's before the voting.

I think before last year's vote, Dr. Z said he thought Thomas should be in and that he probably vote for him.

I'd take DT over anyone of them after White..He change the game more..caused fumbles and imo was just more of a force

Bruce Smith just played a ****in long time. He's not a better pass rusher than a lot of those guys on that list

I don't want to be seen as beating up on DT, who was a terrific player and DESERVES to be in the HOF, without doubt.

But DT played in 169 games and had had 126.5 sacks, or an average of .748 sacks per game.

Smith had 200 sacks in 279 games or an average of .7168 sacks per game.

Difference is 0.03 sacks per game, or half a sack per NFL season. Since Smith played until he was like 40 (not quite), I imagien he hurt his ratio by staying on so long.

Let's not go overboard, both were great players. I acknowledge DT's devastating record in forced fumbles, a huge statistic (more important than sacks, IMHO).

if they put Neil Smith in that top 3 I think I'll puke.

I wonder if DT's vote is getting split a little bit with Kevin Greene. 160 sacks in 228 games (0.702 sacks per game).

Maybe. I think there's also an impression (and it could be wrong) that he was a one way terror -- against the pass -- and not so stout against the run.

I think that helped Andre Tippett into the Hall this year -- he played strong-side linebacker, and most of the sack monsters played weak side. He had to fend off TEs all the time, and was very stout against the run, while also compiling solid sack numbers.

I honestly can't speak to whether DT was great, good or bad against the run -- I really didn't see him enough to pass judgment on that.
