Kramer vs Kramer....Embarassing part, probably becaue it's not very manly and there is crying in it blah, blah, blah.

But from the stand point that the dad did nothing wrong, his wife walked out on him, left him the kid. He manned up and took care of his son responsibly.

I had just as much to do with how our kids were brought up as my wife (I know I changed more diapers than she did). I hate it when men are sterotyped as not good parents just because we are men. When we do something we are suppose to as a parent we hear well that's his job, when something happens and we can't be somewhere with them it's they aren't spending time with the kids. No win situation.

I know some women right now that has 4 kids under 10 by 3 different men and is basically refusing to take care of them just because she can't handle them all. The kids have been in and out of foster care just because their mother is a lazy whore.

The movie depicts Dustin Hoffman as what most of us are, good dads that really love our children and when their mother walks out on life we would stand up and take care of them.

The judge awarded her custody but then she gave it back to him. His testimony in court got to her.

Her reason for leaving was that he was not a good husband because he spent to much time at work and not with her.

The line that got to her was "Just because your not a good husband, doesn't mean your not a good father"

Every guy that isn't queer remembers the girl jumping out the cake seen. That was fantastic.

Every time that movie is mentioned that memory jumps like a diamond on a dunghill.

Flash Gordon
Stick It

Yep. "Flash Gordon" was as silly and campy as a film can be. The actor who played Flash was so bad that they dubbed his voice in the studio weeks before it was released in theaters.

But, God bless it...I watch that movie whenever I come across it on my channel guide.

Are you sure you're not thinking of The Legend of the Lone Ranger? I know the guy who played the Lone Ranger was dubbed by one of the Keach brothers. I'm pretty sure Sam Jones' voice was used in Flash Gordon-I've seen him in a couple of other movies.

Yeah, I like it, too. Not really a bad movie, IMO, as it was intended to be cheesy and silly.

IMDB doesn't mention anything about Jones' voice being dubbed. Normally that sort of thing is listed in the trivia section. The dubber (is that a word?) would be listed in the expanded credits as well.

I felt dirty buying that dvd for some reason, but I watch it about every 6 months. I just dig that movie for some reason. Ancient egyptian with an alien tie-in does it every time.

Stargate got a bad rap from the critics. I really enjoyed that movie.

Nah...Sam got dubbed by an unknown voice actor.

From wikipedia: "Max von Sydow (Ming) received a good deal of praise for his performance, despite Jones (Gordon) being nominated for a Golden Raspberry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Raspberry) for worst lead actor. According to Empire magazine, Sam J. Jones had troubles of some sort with the director, which resulted in almost all of his dialogue being dubbed by a professional voice actor whose identity is still a mystery."

You're right. That is the "spirit" of the thread. But everything morphs. The only one in my list that doesn't qualify as "embarrassed to like" is Dick Tracy. Although, I continually have to defend myself when I say I like it.

But... yeah, I'm a little ashamed of the others.
