I didn't see this posted, but Heath Benedict, the OT prospect from Newberry was found dead of natural causes.

Seriously though, if the life expectancy of a Newberrian is 22 years, why was he a draft prospect anyway? How can any 22 year old kid ever die of "natural causes"?

Oh, damn. That's horrible.He was going to be a solid NFL player, too. He was pretty awesome at the D2 level.

Terrible to see a kid go. Especially one with such a bright future.

MUCH more likely that it was either some kind of undiagnosed disease, weight loss supplement, and/or a heart problem. Anabolic steroids don't kill people.

They've ruled out drugs and alcohol, people. The death was due to natural causes.
