I'm walking late tonight to get a couple extra miles in. A random vehicle pulls up on a side street ahead of me and just sits there, lights on. As I appreach, someone gets out, and, lo and behold, it's my last ex, who I've had no contact with in, I don't know, somewhere in the four to six month range.

I mean, I haven't so much as emailed her in months, and I'm pretty clear about not having any interest in communicating. So, she see's me walking alone at 10:30 at night on a dark street and decides that's a good time to say "hi"?

Why on earth would anyone do something like that?

You've never seen a guy bail more quickly. She was like "can I have a hug" and I sort of one-armed her and pulled away about a millisecond after we touched. Then she said "you look good", and I muttered something about too much work. Then I said "speaking of that, I've got more to do at home, so I better get going" (which is true, I'm actually working on an ad project right now). And then I was gone.

Hopefully she gets the hint, although I kind of thought she'd have gotten it six months ago...

Looks like I need to stick with walks on the trail, and away from the street.

Trying to read peoples motives and women in particular are always fascinating for me. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't she step out on you Keg? And wasn't this the reason for your breakup?
Off the top of my head she may have been dumped recently. And is looking to start something back up with you. Actually running into you and making it look like a chance encounter is a pretty typical woman type of thing.
Just a guess.

Just a guess. No, she didn't step out on me as far as I know. Whole thing started falling apart in May or June, and I finally broke it off in september. (you're probably thinking of my ex-wife)

And it would almost have to be a chance encounter unless she was hanging out in the parking lot outside my apartment. I almost never walk this time of night.

She told me she'd planned ot move up here in February, but I didn't (and still don't) know if that's actually the case. Either way, it's the first time I've seen her. She's only called one time and emailed a couple of times. As far as I know she's never knocked on my door, so it's not like she's been stalking me or anything, in any way I know of. But it was a bit weird tonight, and it's going to make me a little wary, at least for a while.

Yeah it was your ex I was thinking about. But then you can never be 100% certain she wasn't waiting for you. Women do stupid stuff like thinking about you and driving by your house to see if you're home.
But then guys do that too so it isn't exclusive to women. But women seem to do it more.
It used to be my job to discern peoples motives.:hmmm:

I didn't think there was anything sinister about it at the time, it just struck me as weird...

She knows where I live and there's been no knock in my door in the last 90 minutes...

I am expecting some kind of email tomorrow, though.

It's just a weird thing. I don't have anything against her, really, I just want to be left alone...

I've been used and abused by more than one crazy hot ex. They tend to try to do enough to just keep you hanging on... then ask for big favors when they've got nowhere else to go. It's always nice to have a goodhearted nice guy to fall back on.

I'll tell you what though... I've learned that ****ing lesson. Never again.

I think I'm actually done with women in general, at least until I get my own shit in order (if I ever do). I mean, f*ck, I'm a 34-year old guy, 50 pounds overweight, living in poverty. Gotta warn you, that's a bitch of a routine to get out of.

It's a fine line between 'I'm no catch' and 'what's wrong with this chick that lets her be attracted to me?' Next thing you know, you're resolved to 'not settling' until you're a millionaire with rock hard abs.

I feel for you and hope it doesn't get worse. My X-husband started calling me recently and leaving messages to try to get me to call him. I had to call the police to try to get fingerprints off my bedroom window where someone broke into my house while I was out of town for thanksgiving, they had even left the chair with a muddy boot print under the window!! They took personal belongings including 30 pics out of my album. Its a scarry feeling to live alone, and my X was a mean, controlling freak. I don't know if it was him who broke into my apt. or not, he is suppose to live in Alabama.

She lived in Tulsa at the time, as far as I know. So I didn't expect to see her four hours from home late in the evening driving down the street near my apartment.

This wasn't a 'hey, need a ride' thing, either. She got out of her vehicle and walked up to me and started blabbering. I told her I had to get going because I needed to get home and promptly got to steppin'. In a direction that wasn't toward home. I think she got the message, because as far as I recall I never heard from her again.
