Sadly, my favorite player is on the Rangers (Shanahan).
I'm also a big Avery fan. They are a lot better, and can be fun to watch.
It's tough to beat Brodeur, but the Devils aren't what they once were.

No prob. For what it's worth, you can do basic resizing through imageshack directly. It's much quicker than loading it into a photo editing program.

I'm out of it when it comes to the NHL. No Versus, no hockey. I remember the series against the Wild when the seeds were reversed a few years back... I had seen the Wild in person that year and knew they were good, but I remember some idiot in the Denver Post (couldn't find him there a minute ago... last name started with a K, iirc?) wrote a few columns about how the Wild didn't deserve to be in the NHL. It was painful to watch.

Anyway, um, go Avalanche... as long as I don't have to pay attention until after tomorrow night. :D

Where did chiefs4me go? :hmmm:

I'm looking forward to my Av's finally being on TV, I have only seen a game and a half this year. About the only time they have been non TV is when I had no chance to watch them.

So, as a hockey n00b, I don't know how all this stuff works. Have they already scheduled games for the first round of the playoffs? If no, when do those come out? And if so, is there some list out there?

You need Dish Network (or maybe DirecTV). When I was in Emporia, we had Altitude on our 2nd tier channel package - my wife's been an Avs fan for years and wanted to watch games so we paid a little extra.

I'm having trouble finding a schedule, but I assume there will be one out by the end of the evening. Though the matchups are set, i think they will maybe wait till after the last game being played tonight.

Altitude's a pretty decent channel really. All of the home games with the exception of one or two were in HD this year, and I like their play-by-play guys for the most part.

VS is OK to get a variety of games, but not to follow any particular team.

Here's the thread I was looking for... Joe Sakic with the OT goal last night. :toast:

NBC has two Nashville/Detroit and Washington/Philly games each this weekend and next... guess beggars can't be choosers. :(

If you actually want to, you know, watch hockey (damn you Gary Bettman :cuss: ), Boston College/North Dakota and Notre Dame/Michigan are on ESPN2 tonight, 5 and 8:00. The final is Saturday night at 6.

Red Wings are playing Nashville tonight. I'm pretty excited to see it.

I caught very little of Pittsburgh blowing out Ottawa last night, but watched about a period and a half of San Jose and Calgary, two tough, fast teams. All I can say is that I LOVE the intensity of playoff hockey.

Thanks for finding this thread. I couldn't find it earlier.

The Avs/Wild game was something else last night. Two posts, two reviews, and a missed penalty shot went by in the late 3rd period, and none of them went in for the Avs. I didn't figure they'd be able to keep it up, but Sakic came through in the end. Pretty fun game.

If I wasn't going out of town in a couple of weeks, I'd give you my Slingbox so I could see some of these games. So, here's what you do... go out and buy a DVR, Slingbox, and a cable splitter... o:-)

Oh well, Versus has all but Game 5 (ESPN doesn't list the possibility of Game 7 at all, so maybe they know something we don't :hmmm: ), so I'll get someone in KC to record and burn DVDs.... can't miss the Peter Forsberg show :)

Versus is showing the Wings, though not in HD. On the HD versus, they are showing some Master's show, which I think is ridiculous. I like to watch golf as much as the next guy, but preempting a live playoff event in favor of a highlight show... of golf... is bullshit.

It's awesome to see that, though the guide says a Master's show is on, the Wings are on in HD.
They are dominating Nshville on the ice, though they have only scored once... that's typical and maddening for them in the playoffs. I don't see the intensity I saw in last night's games. I hope they aren't taking this lightly. You'd think as many times as they've been upset the past few years they would come out a little more amped.
Ah well, they should win this series easily.

This is what they do every ****ing year, and it drives me nuts.
They are OWNING Nashville. The puck has been in Nashville's zone at least 2/3-3/4 of the time, but Detroit hasn't scored. So Nashville makes one play, and it's a tied game, which will give them energy coming out in the 3rd.

Like I said, their intensity isn't what it should be, even though they are dominating, and it's going to burn them. If not in this series... in the next.

In the matter of about 2 minutes at the beginning of the 2nd period, i went from feeling we could walk through the rest of this game, with a 2 goal lead, to about crapping my pants as Nashville had tied it up and hit the post on the next shot. This game is far more intense than Thursdays, for both sides. Detroit is playing well, especially Hasek. It was great to see Mac get a goal. I feel great for that guy.

That first Nashville goal was definitely a lucky bounce, but Detroit has used those home boards to their advantage for a few years now, so I can'[t complain much.
Nashville probably should have gotten a goal in the first period, but it was a quick whistle for the net being off. I'm certainly not going to be writing the league about it though.

Watching the Wings' offense in this game is almost like watching a video game with the number of cross-ice opportunities. The Red Wings/Predators is one of those big brother/little brother rivalries... intense, but doesn't mean much until little brother wins a few.

I'll be in Detroit in a couple of weeks... if the Avalanche are the lowest seed to advance, maybe I can get tickets so I can get beer thrown on me for wearing my Forsberg jersey. :hmmm: :)

Buh.

The Wings, if they make it past this round, will not make it past the next.
They don't play with the speed of other teams in the playoffs. They are a great passing team, and just seem to be trying to go about their business in a nonchalant way, all while waiting to Hank and Pavel to get back on the ice. The thing is, they've got the speed... they just aren't playing with it.

Gonna be a disappointing spring.

From what I hear, the Wings have raised their prices so much that they've priced out the passionate fan. That's why they don't sell out as much anymore, and why you don't hear the crowd as much as you used to or as much as in most other cities. Add that to the fact that the Joe is kind of a shithole, and I think you'll be safe from the pee.

You're referring to the "pass it back and forth for a full minute" play? If so, yeah, that gets tiring.

As a new fan who isn't really attached to the "old" players, I've become a big fan of Salei. He seems to be more willing to just put it on net from the point than most of the other guys, and it seems to pay off about every other game.

I could live with the Av's in 7. I'm still amazed that the Av's only trailed for under 5 minutes for their entire series, thats almost impressive. Though the Av's goalie will have to continue to stand on his head if they want to move on again.

I pulled it from another website, so I don't have any ownership issues with how you change it. The black looks better, so great job.

Theodore is a decent goalie, and he's in luck... before playing the Wings, the league lets every goalie take steroids and have surgery to make themselves bionic. So you should be set!!!

I'm pretty down on my Wings right now. I just didn't see the speed and intensity from them that I saw from other teams in the 1st round. I'd like to think they can turn it on, but I've been down this road too many times with them. Plus, although he didn't have a great series agains Minnesota, you guys have the answer to Holmstrom in Ryan Smyth, who is one of my favorites.

What a f***ing embarrassment... not showing up in Game 1 until Theodore was pulled, and getting completely dominated in Game 2. On top of that, after the two last-resort motivators -- pulling the goalie and getting into a fight -- they have to kill 8 penalties because playing bad wasn't enough, they had to start playing dumb, too.

Of course, the Red Wings have something to do with it, and it is a 1-6 matchup, but it's not only the playoffs, it's the Wings/Avalanche FFS.

Salei makes dumb choices, they take stupid penalties, the forwards are skating in sand and can't even keep possession through the neutral zone, and Theodore won't ever be good enough to take over a game against a team as good as Detroit (obviously, not many are). Forsberg could make a difference and maybe light a fire if he can stay healthy, but Superman couldn't fix this clusterf***.

I didn't see the first two games of that series... was it this dominating? The Avalanche didn't deserve to be on the same ice as the Red Wings today, or in the first couple of periods the other night. They had 10 shots after TWO periods. :cuss:

A home game plus Forsberg plus goalie issues by Detroit... Colorado could win game 3. I'm not quick to jump to conclusions after a game or two, but with this kind of effort/domination, the Avalanche have mountains to climb to just stretch this series past 4 or 5 games.

At one point in the 1st period, I was amazed how much Colorado was outhustling nd outworking Detroit, suddenly Detroit scores 2 quick goals.\Same thing here, Detroit just seems to be going about their work, while the Avs are hustling and working for every loose puck, and suddenly Detroit scores again.
I keep thinking other teams are going to wipe Detroit out, because the Wings just don't seem to play with the speed and intensity of other teams, but maybe they are just that skilled with the puck that if Ozzie plays well, they can just pick their spots instead of running all over the ice.

Two quick goals by Montreal around 7 minutes to go in the game... 2-2.

Three games on tv in 3 days... I'm starting to like the CBC, eh.

What's the CBC?

Versus has been more entertaining this round. With fewer games, they've been able to get all but a couple on and in HD.

3-2 Flyers... very entertaining.

The CBC is the Canadian Broacasting Company (I assume that's what it stands for). The production is great, and they don't have the ads that NBC has in the corners of the screen and they don't have in-game commercials(since many more people are watching, obviously).

The last time I watched Versus, during last year's playoffs, the production had gotten a lot better than when they started.

Three 3-0 series and one 3-1.... some good games, but hopefully one or two teams can make their series interesting. Three of the leaders are on the road for their next game, which might help at least extend a series or two.

So don't watch. DUH!!!

I'd love to see this come down to Philly vs. Pitt, great rivalry. It would be like getting to watch 7 consecutive games of Chiefs vs. Raiders. Well, Raiders would be NJ Devils, Pitt is more like Broncos.

Still pretty freaking cool though. I FREAKIN" LOVE HOCKEY!!!

LETS GO FLYERS!!!

Why watch? because they are the best hockey team ever. Although this seems to be alittle bitter sweet because the last time they were bad ass it was because they tanked a season and got Mario now they tanked and got Sidjesus and malkie I haven't watch the flyers and are they still tough over finease as they always seem to be? That was always a fun matchup back in the day hextall and a bunch of thugs versus the eurotrash penguins haha

sweet picture q.s. hehe

Hehe, the "Broad Street Bullies" days, good times.

Thier defensemen are still on the enforcer side but they've migrated the rest of the team over to finesse...finally. I'm sure they'll be picked to lose against Pitt if it works out that way but they were picked to lose the series against Canada 6-1 as well.

Still fun as hell to watch.

Avs Wings.
Doesn't feel like playoff hockey without it.
I'll actually pick the Avs in 7, and hope otherwise.

I'm positive that by calling this, the Avs will quickly score 5 unanswered goals, but how wrong was I?

I'm usually not one to think "it's good if the team that beat my team wins it all, because it sort of validates losing to them.. after all, no one could beat them"....... but, after the Avalanche got taken to the woodshed, beaten like a red-headed stepchild, and a myriad of other clichés for four straight games, I'd almost be annoyed if the Red Wings didn't at the very least make it to OT of Game 7 of the Finals.

Then again, a raping x4 never heals. Especially when it's in the butt. The butt.

I'm more the vengeful type. I'd be perfectly fine if Detroit got slaughtered in the next round. But I don't see any way in hell that happens against either Dallas or San Jose.

I was fortunate enough to attend the Penquins game today in Pittsburgh. I am in town for training and the company giving the training had 4 tickets.

Excellent seats in what is called the Igloo. I sat 5 rows up from the glass right at the blue line.
