How do you feel about signatures and avatars? Just curious who actually uses what around here.

Sigs off, avs on. Although I do adblock avs that have softcore porn or animations in them.
I use the sigs and avs off feature and at work mode M-F. At home, I leave them on in full featured.

At home: full-featured, with both on
At work: at-work, with both off

No kidding. On the old bb software, I had about 30 people on my avatar ignore. I just don't get why they feel the need to have that.

I have sigs and avatars turned on. I wouldnt care too much if they were gone tomorrow, but it does add character to the place.

Generally speaking I can tell who is who just by their avatars.

Avatars on = gives me a visual of who's who.
Sigs off = too much HUGE annoying crap, saves on load time

I have them all turned off. I think signatures with gawdy pics and annimations are stupid.

That's basically the way I am. Avatars help me keep track of who people are. When n00bs come around, I usually get to know their avatar before I get to know their username. And it throws me off like crazy when people change their avatar to something completely different.
I prefer the "variations on a theme" approach.

I have avy's on so it makes it easier to identify who's posting without having to read much.

nice approach, the older I get the more brain cells diminish. I need all the help I can.

I did that for a long time with the Al Bundy avatars but eventually I ran out of them, and I thought it would be lame to start re-using them.

I doubt I'll run out of green faces any time soon. I may keep my current one for a while though. He's a little creepy, which I like.

I post and check out threads mostly on my lunch break so I have signatures & avatars turned off since some of that stuff isn't safe for work.

Na, he looks to be around 10 years older than me. I just found him on a Google image search for "green guy" or something like that.

I agree. I like it when people keep the same avatars for a long time so I can recognize who's who at a glance. I have no real use for signatures, but I have them turned on because they don't bother me.

Ditto. I like my sig but could care less about all the others so I am all for just killing them.

Both on.
I get as big a kick out of some people's sigs and avs as I do from reading the posts on this site. There is a diverse collection of posters here who are very unique or clever or funny or whatever and IMHO sigs/avs gives them an avenue to express themselves.
