Danan Hughes??? Could you possibly find a more obscure former KC Chiefs player?

Can we throw in Tim Barnett as well?? :)

LOL the odds of finding a draft report on a 7th round pick...15 years ago are slim to none....that said I found this interesting article on where he is now.

Sad.

"Most people believe that 1997 was Danan Hughes's best year, as he ran back a fumble for a touchdown"

When Danan Hughes was born, the only person who cried was the doctor. Never slap Danan Hughes.

That was before I started getting draft magazines (and maybe before anyone published draft magazines). However, here's the writeup of the Chiefs' receiving corps from my 1994 Lindy's Pro Football Annual:

Nobody but the Chiefs believe in their receivers: J.J. Birden and Willie Davis. But they were good enough to help the Chiefs get to the AFC Championship Game. In this offense, neither is going to play every down because they don't get to take running plays off as many of the top receivers in the league do.

Danan Hughes made an impression as a returner last year, and he is a bigger receiver. The team also drafted a pair of bigger receivers in the third round, nabbing physcial Lake Dawson of Notre Dame and Chris Penn (101 catches) of Tulsa.

The tight end position has been turned over to Keith Cash, who gae an all-star performance in the playoffs, but has yet to demonstrate he can consistently play at that level. Jonathan Hayes was released in teh off-season, but there were indications he might re-sigh at a lower salary.

Rating: 7 (of 10)

The magazine reported the following wide receivers as the top prospects for the 1995 draft.

J.J. Stokes
Bobby Engram
Joey Galloway
Lee DeRamus
Michael Westbrook
Eddie Gaines
Amani Toomer
Tyrone Davis
Jermaine Lewis
Frankie Sanders

I'm guessing he'll be one of the few who might have some of his own press clippings still. But I'm gonna need a compelling reason to ask him.
