I'm probably reaching here....but I'm bored.

If Matt Ryan fell to the #5 pick.

www.rotoworld.com

The Panthers are interested in QB Matt Ryan if he falls to them at No. 13 in the draft.

The team is allegedly so high on Ryan that he'd be their choice if they had the No. 1 pick. Conventional wisdom has the Panthers drafting an offensive tackle, defensive end, or even a running back in the first round, but a franchise-altering quarterback may be too enticing to pass up.

I know it says "if he falls to them".....but what about playing Baltimore and Carolina off of each other to get Ryan at #5?

They'd have to give up a 2nd and 4th or both of their 3rds and a 4th for us to drop 8 spots. I'd make the trade under either of those scenarios.

No way. Stay put and take Ellis.

Ah yes trade out of any shot at a top notch player.....

It's only worth if it you get a next years 1st and other picks....

Peppers or Steve Smith better be included in it.

So what if the Panthers offered us this years 1st plus next years 1st?

That's what I meant.....there is no reason to trade out unless you are being offered next years 1st along with picks this year.

The Panthers have to be foaming at the mouth with the prospect of trading up for Matt Ryan.

It wouldnt shock me if Ryan slid all the way down to Carolina where they are now.

There ain't no way he's going past Baltimore.

Our first for their first and Jake Delhomme. Then we'll have our old hand me down QB and can pick up a player for less $$. It's the perfect Carl trade!

Yep. Clady, Albert or Otah. One of them should be there at 13.

When the road is this bumpy, I'd rather spend my money on a couple of Humvee's than ONE Alpharomeo.

True. Hence more incentive for the Panthers to go to bed with us.

Hell, if he makes it past Atlanta (which I kinda doubt) he damn sure won't make it past Kansas City.

I think you mean Kansas City's spot. Hopefully used by another team giving us an arm and a leg for it.

I don't think there will be many trades. There is a new value chart circulating. Without any type of agreement by all teams to use it, teams will look at the old one and new to see where they come out better. It's just another item to get hung up on.

Old chart: http://www.gbnreport.com/tradevaluetable.html

New chart: http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/04/15/new-draft-trade-chart/

Under the new chart if KC swapped with the #8 team it would generate 170 points. Under the old chart it would be 300 points. Almost half the value. Under the new chart the Bengals would only have to give up a late 3rd round pick to move from 8 to 5. The old chart would have been a late 2nd round pick.

The new chart pretty much ****s up our chances of getting any value out of trading down. We need to stand pat.

I know this has been mentioned before, but the point system on the new chart really does not make that much sense. It is a 100 point drop from the first pick of the draft (2000 points) to the second pick (1900). Then it is a stead decline on through pick number 32 which makes sense. Then you have another 100 point drop between #32 and #33 at the top of the second round.

OK I'm now royally confused. What the hell is this one then?
