We have all heard people say this. In fact, this board is rife with it. BUT, have you actually ever known someone to back up that statement by actually giving up the team completely?

I don't mean give up season tickets.... I don't mean not going to games at all.... I mean flat out giving up the team. No games at the stadium, TV, radio, or even looking for scores or info on the net or newspapers.

I have heard it over and over again but have yet to see someone actually follow through. You?

I'd still follow the NFL, play fantasy, etc. so I'd still see scores and games but if they moved the team out of KC I'd have no reason to remain a fan. I'd probably become a Bucs fan if that happened.

Move from KC. It just wouldn't be the same, even though I don't live there.

Or throw feces on all the fans at every game as they walk through the door. I probably would hold that against them, too.

I agree. If they changed cities or if they signed Barry Bonds.

Change cities would be the only reason.

As long as I didn't physically GO to any of the games, I would probably be alright with this. A sea of red and poo!

Moving would probably be it. I don't know who the hell I would root for then. I used to say that if they signed Bill Romanowski then I would quit being a fan. I don't know if I would have followed through but I'm glad I didn't have to find out.

Move from KC or change the name to the Raiders or Broncos.

Well it almost happened when we signed Herm Edwards... Man that straw really did a number on the camels back... Now I tune in mostly for the trainwreck that he is building, so far I havent been disappointed....

I really want to be the "true fan" but Carl and Herm are doing there best to take any excitement away...

I guess when Clark finally moves the Chiefs to LA, I will stop being a fan...

If we trade Allen, and pass on Rayn.... and Ryan turns out to be the real deal.... I'm not sure the front office could survive that scenario.

The only way would be if the team left the area. I gave up the season tickets after the Indy debacle.

only if they pulled a Cleveland Browns on us, moved somewhere and changed names and everything. If they just changed cities but stayed the Chiefs, I dunno....

but being $hitty isn't gonna stop me from being a fan, I'll ride through the thick & thin

Yea but here's another bit...can you imagine how long the hold out would be. I'd be really surprised if it was less than 8 games. At the 5th pick and a 'franchise' QB he's going to demand a bigger overall contract than Long...less guarenteed money for sure but do you really see carl giving him that much? Considering that he's not a slam dunk?

That could be the final nail in Carls coffin...

Lets hope it plays out this way....

If he's available, and they don't draft him, it's because they don't feel he's worth the 5th overall pick, not about the money.

As was mentioned a few posts ago...because he's not a slam dunk.

If he were, Parcells would have taken him 1st overall - they have a QB that's already older than guys drafted 4 years ago.

Ryan and Long have the same agent and it's Tom Condon who Carl hasn't had any major problems with.

I think the only *insert random action* we'll get in this thread would be huge earth-shattering events like leaving town. If anyone truely was going to stop being a fan over a minor thing, they would have stopped long ago, and wouldnt be posting here.

Yeah, it would be pretty tough. But I think I could survive it....Maybe.

I think leaving town (even though I'm not local anymore). There's just something about KC.

On the anyone following through part, I think htismaqe did. I know he doesn't post anymore, but I seriously think he quit caring about the chiefs. I really do.

Along the lines of what alnorth said, anyone who would let something like that force him to not be a fan any longer would have already left by now. At this point it is really just about waiting out Carl and Herm for a lot of fans.

At least you'll only have to hang on for 10 games this year. The upside is that the Chiefs won't interfere with the holiday season. :(

Impossible for me because I would still follow the NFL no matter what happened with them. The only reason I could forsee that would make me not be a fan anymore is if they changed locations and left Kansas City, I would no longer root for them if this happened.
