Good. Chiefs have no need for a "solid" backup safety (whether or not your bias allows you to see that or not, he's at least a solid backup when you take a look around the league). I'd rather have a sixth-rounder and draft a player by throwing a dart at 30 available player's names.

their are very few if any players on KCs roster that have trade value so it's either him or Wesley

It's got to be Wesley.

He was upset that after he signed for starter's money, the Chiefs drafted Pollard & Page, then put him on the bench.

Quite frankly, the way the guy whiffs on tackles and gets burned deep (not to mention his bad attitude) if it's NOT him Harry is talking about, I'd be surprised.

Wesley needs to go.

ANYONE with a bad attitude needs to go, especially with at least 13 new draft picks coming (and probably just as many street free-agents).

It's time to change the culture around Arrowhead.

It probably is Wesley. We've been through this a number of times...
His bad attitude is because of how the Chiefs have kept him around to sit on the bench, while other teams have shown interest in giving him the opportunity to play. It's bullshit.
Name one other Chiefs player that has had more TD-saving-tackles (during Wesley's tenure) or that hits harder than Wesley.

With all that said, I'm still bitter about the Denver deal.

Depending on what the compensation is...

Doubt I'd do it for anything less than a high 3rd round pick.

It's pretty clear we're not doing anything for a few years, and if you're gonna firesale it, he'd be more value to us picking up young guys than 3 years down the road when he's past his prime after sticking around to help us reach 4-12

Waters' play dropped off considerably this year without Will Shields or Weigman playing at a high level next to him. Due to his age and the enormous amount of depth of offensive lineman the 2008 draft has to offer, ship him out for a 3rd round pick and replace him.

It's going to happen soon, whether he likes it or not anyway, so if the Chiefs have the opportunity now, take it.

This was not from my source that has always been right so I didn't post anything. But supposely he called King Carl and asked to be quietly shopped around because he didn't want to wait 2-3 years to be good again. The Chiefs said they would make inquiries but no promises. Again this person has never told me anything private but I've known him for 6 years. Maybe just a BS rumor he heard? Who knows?

Exactly. Like it or not, we are not going to be contenders anytime soon so we might as well get something out of him while we can. I wouldn't take anything less than a 3rd rounder for him though. Hell, at this point I would give up Gonzo for a high 2nd rounder.

Since the franchise isnt getting rid of LJ, this seems to make sense.

Like Shannon Sharpe, Gonzo looks to be one of those guys that doesn't suffer from a lot of dropoff as he gets older. How is the guy, b/c he could probably play another 8 years..

I feel bad the guy has had no luck in terms of playoff wins or a ring, but I kinda like the fact that he wants to stay for now, and think it'd be kinda cool if he played his entire career with KC.

If he has an option to pick up with a contender and we can move him, I'd even take a bit less value for the guy just as a show of appreciation to him if thats the only way he could get some hardware for his finger.

I would suspect that Carl is trading away draft picks for future draft picks, because whoever they get with their current draft picks will be too old by the time they're competitive, and because they won't want to play for Carl anyway.

Man - I gotta disagree with that. If the market for Pat Surtain was a 2nd round pick, the market for Gonzo has to at least start there - maybe even a low 1st rounder. He's nowhere near the end.

The position is pretty low in terms of value to a team.

I would argue that the TE position is on the rise while the FB position has been on the decline. Look how many TE studs teams have been drafting in the first round the past 7-8 years. If the position was as low as you claim, Dallas Clark would have never vaulted from a 4th round project to a first round pick for the Colts. I'm guessing there's a lot of teams who would come up to bat with a 2nd rounder in hand if Gonzo came on the market.

Absolutely. I just don't think he's worth acquiring. Wes is 29 years old. He's a documented bad-attitude guy. He's inconsistent and gives up big plays.

Nope, we're going to have a really hard time finding any value for him.

We couldn't find value last year for Sammy Knight, who at least has a Pro Bowl to his name. We screwed ourselves out of a 4th last year.

The big thing in Wesley's favor, though, is that this is a very weak safety class in this upcoming Draft, and Wes would yield better returns than any 5th to 7th would give you. Wes can also play FS and SS, both fairly adequately.
