Dorsey is a high-character guy who is a coach’s dream. He puts the interests of the team above his own personal concerns and is all about winning. He’s compact, strong, and lightning quick. It often seems as if he’s moving before the center snaps the ball. Against the run, he’s a true plugger, taking up two blockers consistently and erasing holes for the ball-carrier. He’s able to stay low and create power from his legs and use his long arms (35"+) effectively to keep blockers at bay. He moves well laterally and can get down the line in pursuit. As a pass-rusher, Dorsey’s quickness allows him to penetrate the gaps and his strength allows him to overpower the offensive linemen. There are very few NFL blockers currently that could handle Dorsey one-on-one. Dorsey is a team leader, both vocally and demonstrably. He played through pain his senior season and even maintained a positive perspective in the days leading up to the draft when rumors were floated regarding a "clandestine" knee surgery that never occurred. He's going to be an asset in the community for whichever franchise is fortunate enough to draft him.

I realize now what got me wondering about his character (and why I dug up this quote). When we drafted him, his reaction looked to me that he was near tears.

For a guy who could rightly expect to be the #1 pick overall, to slip to #5 and be faced with heading to a bad team in a smaller midwestern city and having to deal with negotiating with Carl Peterson... I wouldn't have been suprised to see a disappointed response from and I'm actually a little suprised it wasn't at least at least muted.

He was moved.

Let's face it, Dorsey is a good sanitation man (takes out the trash by handling multiple blockers, thus freeing a teammate up to make the play), but if statistics tell the true story, he had just 13 sacks, 27 stops for losses and seven quarterback pressures in 51 collegiate games. While we will follow the party line that he could develop into another Sapp, he also could be a clone of a former LSU Tiger, Anthony McFarland

It's hard to argue McFadden. But Dorsey is arguably the best player in the draft. He has the potential to preform my favorite defensive play. Which is mauling the center and running over the QB as he's getting ready to set up to pass or hand off to the RB. I just love a tackle destroying a play in the backfield. :D

couldn't believe oakland passed on him really. I know McFadden is a great college player but oakland was already one of the better rushing offenses in the league and they have a lot of needs.

I guess I'll be the one to be pessimistic here. I am tickled as much as anyone about the pick. I like both first round picks in fact. But I am wondering how long it will be before they're signed and official Chiefs players. So far the Chiefs have done most everything right. Carl and his hardball tactics can quickly change that.
