PBJGet the Samsung LN46A550 through Amazon for less. It's a better TV, IMO, to boot.

That's the older model with only 3 HDMI. Also doesn't look as nice in a side-by-side comparison. Looked at both in store a while ago.

Best Buy is offering two things - 0% financing for 24 months; $100 credit toward at BluRay player; or a free upconvert Yamaha DVD player (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8504656&type=product&id=1186004964519).

Not sure if I'm ready to go Blu-Ray yet... I'm still skulking around over the HD-DVD doorstop I have. Probably will go with the Yamaha and stick it up on eBay.

Good lookin' TV - but with three HDMI, and $150 in shipping, not worth it to me.

It's amazing with a standard 1081i DVD player and HDTV from Direct TV.

The black is soooooo black so everything just pops off the screen.

It's awesome.

How's the Toshiba picture compared to the Aquos or Samsung?

The Aquos is the best LCD I've ever seen and the Samsung is second.

Not sure about the Aquos, but my problem with Samsung was that they tend to be in the second tier of repairs, according to Consumer Reports, with Sony, Toshiba and one other (can't remember at this time) being in the top tier for least repairs needed.

Amazing tv, kicks my parents 65" mitsubish rear flat panel 1080p's ass...its so crystal clear you feel like its a puddle of water that you could touch.

I can't wait to get a 52" Aquos asap! That seems ideal, a 70" version is like $10k

Bro, I'm tellin' ya, the Aquos has a picture that is unparalleled. If you're seriously concerned about the warranty, buy it at the least expensive place and purchase the extended warranty.

Personally, I think the extended warranty is unnecessary. 99% of the time, an electronic item is going to fail in its first year and be under warranty. It's highly unlikely that it will fail in years two and three (hence how those companies stay in business).

Please, do what makes you comfortable. If you want the warranty, buy the warranty. Don't let me talk you out of it.

But purchase the Sharp. You won't regret it for a nanosecond. :D

The same-size Aquos is $1000 more than the Toshiba. It may be a great TV, I don't know because I've never watched one. But I'm not lookin' to spend $2,600 on a TV, and I'm not looking to take a major step down in size.

I know what you mean about the extended warranties... generally a waste of money. And at least with a projection, the most-replaced part is the gun, which usually costs less to buy and install yourself than the cost of the warranty.

I was thinking the same thing. 3 HDMI ports is a lot. I have a 3-hdmi Yamaha AVR that I use as a video switcher and I have all 3 occupied, but I'm a bit of a freak. I have a PS3, Directv HD box and an HD DVD player hooked up to it. The only other thing I can think to hook up to it would be a 360.

I'm really looking at a new TV eventually. I have a 7 year old HD projection set. It's decent for television but looks like ass for gaming.

I'm like you. At this time, I only have a need for three, but I'm a bit of a freak, too. I want to have the flexibility. And since I don't have an HDMI AVR, I'm stuck with what's on the TV. And I really like my Denon receiver, so I'm not planning to upgrade it any time soon.

I have a pioneer 47 inch plasma in my master suite that is fantastic.
It has the best picture I have ever seen.
I am very upset that they are no longer making plasma any more.

I bought my mom a sony bravia for christmas and she loves it.

I picked up a 50" Bravia and couldn't be happier with it. My old man is bitter because I waited for a screaming deal and got one.

Incidentally, I picked it up off of Amazon.com and the wife was quite worried about how it would fare in shipping. I told her it can't be any worse than what the douchebags at Best Buy did to their products. (we had a bad experience, to say the least, the last time we were there. Which is the last time we ever went there.)
