View Full Version : Money My Economic Stimulus check was taken from me and given to the poor.

I've already included this in several threads, but thought I would start a new one so I could complain louder.

Why do I not get a check? I'm working late to make this country a great place, and I'm trying to steal jobs from the Chinese, and I'm buying computers and printers, and I'm paying local use taxes on the free candy I provide to my employees, and then they won't give me a check. Everybody else gets a check but me. Give me my check! I want my check! If I don't get my check, I'm going to go dig up and sell some asphalt off the road! I want my government cheese, dammit!

That would work I'd guess. I'm not saying I agree with it, but I'd guess that the logic is that poor people are more likely to run out and spend the money (thus, stimulating the economy), where the more wealthy would be more likely to just put the money into the bank instead (thus, stimulating their bank accounts). I was just curious to know what you'd do personally.

By then the economy will be "all stimulated" and I won't feel the need to stimulate it with my cheese.

Because your kids should already have kids and be on public support. Giving you a check would be double dipping.

That's why they're poor, I think.

How about if I spend it on some gadget at Hammacher Schlemmer? I could buy a remote control shark, or maybe my own soda fountain. Would that be wasteful enough?

I feel your pain, brother Rain Man. I also get no free money.

Because a company in which I owned stock went private, I got an unplanned capital gain. Of course, I had to report that gain, which bumped me out of the free money...I had to pay taxes on the gain, which means I am actually poorer than I was before...and, oh yeah....I don't get free money. Yet my future grandchildren will still have to pay for the free money giveaway.

btw.....go with the hovercraft idea.....a hovercraft would rock.

I hear you Rainman. I are poor, so I get some dough, but I can definitely see where you are pissed.

I think you should buy an expensive pet. Like a dog that requires lots of grooming. That way, not only are you spending rediculous amounts of money on a rediculous luxury, but you must continue to support it and thus stimulate the economy. Or hovercraft. If you get a hovercraft, can I drive it?

Rain Man

We share our money anyway. Stuff like this just makes me feel screwed. Stepparents have no rights whatsoever. Do I not love these children as my own? Do I not treat them as my own? So shouldn't I get recognized as a parent, too? Not only with the IRS, but the court system? I'm allowed absolutely no rights under law to two children I love more than I ever knew I could love anyone (with the possible exception of their Daddy).

Much of my childhood was spent helping fix cars and lawnmowers. I have a scar on my left leg from burning it fixing a dirtbike.

I live in an apartment, so my only contact with lawnmowers currently is when they wake me up at 8am every Friday (my day off).

I live in an apartment, so my only contact with lawnmowers currently is when they wake me up at 8am every Friday (my day off).
It's funny, for some reason I have few problems keeping my cars going, but I can't fix a small engine to save my life. I just gave away a gas powered blower that was only used 1 year because I couldn't keep the thing going. I'm constantly having problems with my lawn tractor too.

Some of my favorite memories are helping Daddy fix cars and lawnmowers.

I tried to teach my son how to work on cars, but all he learned was lots of new curse words.

The irony is, I have a brother. I just liked spending the time with my Dad. I learned a few curse words too, developed an interesting relationship with the guys at the local auto parts store (imagine a skinny girl with long hair and greasy hands that knows EXACTLY the part she needs), went through my share of bandaids, and earned the aforementioned scar.

We'll have to hijack a thread another night.
