I know MU has done this (although for much less money) and it's been a mistake, IMO. But paying that much money to avoid Fresno State?!? Good Lord.

From Rivals:
Kansas State (http://kansasstate.rivals.com/) paid a quarter-million dollars to avoid a game against Fresno State (http://fresnostate.rivals.com/). That's a Big 12 team paying $250,000 to cancel a home game against a WAC team. Of course, said WAC team whacked K-State 45-29 last year. In need of a replacement opponent, K-State offered $350,000 to Montana State, a Division I-AA program that went 6-5 in 2007. Meanwhile, Fresno State raised its level of competition by replacing Kansas State on its schedule with Rutgers (http://rutgers.rivals.com/).

I think it's pretty obvious what's going on. Fresno has had our number both times, and has absolutely kicked our asses. There's no upside to the Fresno game, as we need wins in 08. It sucks, but it is what it is.

So if the NFL allowed this kind of scheduling, would Carl think he is Kansas State (needing to buy a softer schedule to win some games) or Montana State (make some money even though my team is crappy)?

So, a 65-0 whoopin on a formally I-AA (now FCS) team is now $600,000.

Keeping one's road game against a Big East School for National TV (South Florida, 9/12, ESPN): Priceless

I guess Prince got a closer look at his KSCC roster full of JUCO's and decided discretion was the better part of valor.

LMAO at a Kansas fan bragging about a non-con game. Even one difficult opponent this year doesn't make up for your joke of a non-con schedule last year with zero away games.

uh, KSU already travels to Louisville (a Big East School/TV game) this year.

this is old news....keep up.

As Chi said, there's no upside for KSU in this game, we lose and it's a third loss to them. We win, and big deal.

The following game is a road game at Louisville, so I'd rather we focus on that. My only complaint about this is it should have been done last year.

Oh, and Fresno wanted to schedule KU, but they declined, at least we had the balls to play them twice.

Makes you wonder how much Lew Perkins spent for that BCS bowl last year with teams like Florida Intl and Toledo not to mention the money given to the bowl officials...

Eh... they're in the same situation as Kansas was last year. They need to worry about winning games and making it to a bowl game. Just like Kansas, if you're not breaking .500 in conference, there's no reason to worry about SoS out of conference.

I mean, they should do the same thing Kansas did, and conspire to make it to a BCS Bowl.

I don't have the time nor inclination, as I just got back from vacation and have a lot of things to get caught up on, but a Fresno poster on KStatefans.com brought it up and linked to it about a month ago, saying not to worry that we're the only pussies in Kansas.

Like KU's never bought out a game. OSU and TT also have canceled games with Fresno in recent years.

Big deal....the only people who care are KU queers. Even Fresno fans wanted it so they could schedule Rutgers.

here you go you sanctimonious prick. I was wrong though, apparently KU bailed out of their scheduled games (2) with FSU. Fresno is not on your 2009 schedule, and obviously you never played them in 2005.

I know Montana is the powerhouse team of Montana. And usually Montana St. isn't too bad also.
