Yes, he re-signed. He's the favorite to be the starting center right now.

Are you certain?
He played very well at Guard last season and with the Wade Smith signing I would imagine that he holds down the RG spot.

Hell man, I graduated High School, and I am going to start going to college this year.

I wanted to take a little time off from school and now im ready to go major in a field.

The Star is projecting that Wade Smith will be the starting center and that Adrian Jones will be the starting RG.

Interesting.

Taylor? That doesn't seem like a likely scenario to me.
I'd rather have Niswanger at Guard and Smith at Center.

If you follow the history of what the Chiefs have done in the off season with the center position, it is very confusing. They made no attempt to re-sign Casey Wiegmann and he has moved on and signed with the Denver Broncos. I have no problem with this move. I think it was time for both KC and Casey to go different ways. The team did make an attempt at center Jeff Faine and Herm made statements to the press about the unfairness of early signings when Jeff signed with Tampa Bay. We brought in center Justin Hartwig only to have him sign with Pittsburgh. We then brought in and signed Wade Smith and declared him to be a center. Looking through stat information, it looks like Wade played TE and LT at Memphis. He played LT at Miami and LT for the Jets. In the 2008 draft the Chiefs did not draft a center nor after the draft did they sign a college free agent to play that position.
So the Chiefs indicate that they need to improve at center by looking at free agent centers. I don’t think that Faine or Hartwig would have been signed to be a backup to Rudy Niswanger. They sign a tackle to play center. They don’t draft or sign a college center,
Conclusion – I really don’t know. Maybe Rudy Niswanger is recovering nicely from his injury, they had doubts early and now they think they are ok. Even though I see people penciling in Wade Smith to be the starting center, it seems strange to come to that conclusion on a man that does not play that position.

Wilson8
05-08-2008, 11:49 PM
any chance that Anthony Alabi makes the team ?

I think it will be an open competition between Anthony Alabi, Will Svitek, Barry Richardson, Herb Taylor, Tre Stallings, and Adrian Jones for tackle positions. He has as good a shot as the others. Since KC's roster only lists three guards, Brian Waters, Chris McDuffie, and Rob Smith, I think some of these guys that can make the transition will be playing guard.

Wilson8
05-09-2008, 06:29 AM
Since KCStar.com projects 2008 to have the following lineup for the Chiefs - LT Branden Albert, LG Brian Waters, C Wade Smith, RG Adrian Jones, RT Damion McIntosh, Wade Smith must be making a good impression on someone at center.
