Thigpen? Schefter is writing that Thigpen has a decent chance of starting. Or is this the Chiefs Brass pimping Thigpen to the NFL media so as to put some fire under Brody to perform? I never saw this kid play in college and didn't see him in week 13 against the Chargers.

Most likely the next Ted White/ Jesse Haynes/ offseason superstar who does nothing in the league.

I'm not going to get excited about a guy who released by a team that wasn't exactly set at the QB spot.

good point but you have Derrick Anderson being cut by Balt who like the Vikes were unsettled as well .... you never know....

I don't think he was actually released by the Vikings-I think they were trying to sneak him on the PS and the Chiefs grabbed him off the waiver wire.

Teams make mistakes. The Vikings could have with Thigpen.
I hope he gets a real shot to compete with Brodie for the starting gig.

Good point, I forgot about that.

Yup, that's correct. I don't think anyone should get their hopes up on the guy - there's no telling what kind of player he is. Most QBs in the league came out of the first two rounds. On the plus side, there are diamonds in the rough and the Vikes were pissed when we snagged him. I remember them bitching about how we never would have if we didn't have the joint practices during training camp and they were talking tough about not doing it this year because of it.

Still, I think this is a smokescreen out of Arrowhead to drive up interest in the fan base and put a fire under Brodie. I'll be surprised if he becomes anything more than a solid backup.

I think he will start simply because Croyle will still get killed behind our line...we still have a couple of glaring holes there (rather than the four from last year).

Miracles happen. Sometimes great players go late and others don't get drafted at all. Trent wouldn't have been drafted today, he'd have been a UFA invite.

smokescreen.

This is just to get the idea out there for Brodie that he isn't guaranteed the job... Even though he is.

IMO If the Chiefs were going to have somebody realistically push Brodie to perform, they would of moved to grab Brohm or Henne.... Or drafted somebody. ex: Booth or sombody like that.

Thigpen is the next Favre. :thumb Besides the obvious physical differences they are the same.
