I rolled my ankle a few weeks back playing basketball and the pain has been getting progressively worse. I'm taking some time off from basketball, but I will need an ankle brace when I get back into it. Any suggestoins?

I'm looking for something that doesn't limit motion too much. I'm fat and can't jump anymore, so I just need some support.

I tried this.

It is pure ass. Terrible. Minimal support and all it did is make my foot hurt.

Tried this too.

In order to get any support you have to sinch it up super tight, limiting effectiveness.

Amazing ankle brace. I play ball 3-5 times a week, had sprained my ankles very severely many times before I was introduced to this one. Now I'll twist it, assume it's horrible, 10 minutes later I'm back to playing full speed.

Can't imagine the days of playing without it this brace. Already on my second set of them, I give them the highest recommendation.

Personally i find medical tape great... If you use enough of it it can provide good support...

Thanks man. I'm not nearly good enough (or flexible enough) to use tape. Thats kinda why I was looking for a brace.

Yeah, the chiropractor puts the bones back into place so the tendons/ligaments heal back unstretched. But I've found a lot of chiropractors don't know what the **** they are doing, so they just him haw around and want to crack your back. I'll see if I can find one around here that is not worthless.

everytime I rolled my ankle I just tried to keep the weight off, but having to walk up the mountain to class at KU everyday made that impossible. But eventually it healed, so I don't have much info to give you. But that hurts when you do that!

I told the doctor, "It hurts when I do that". He said, "Then don't do that!" LMAO

Rub some dirt on it Nancy........j/k. BTW Mcdavid ankle braces are pretty good IMO, I always wear my ankle braces when i ball. I broke and dislocated my right ankle and have a plate in it. I also broke my left ankle twice, and can't possibly count the number of times I have rolled both of them.

tore ligaments in my right ankle couple year back, so now I wear one on that ankle, and the other just to prevent that happening again. The brand I got are Tru-Fit. got em from Dicks sporting goods. they work fine, and you dont have to tie them, they are velcro.

I've sprained my ankle many times, to the point that I now HAVE to wear a brace anytime I play sports. I use THIS ONE and have never had a problem with it on, and feel very secure. It's great.

I've had numerous ankle issues (broken, sprained, etc.) and I use braces on both. I have the lace and velcro version, and it's worked reasonably well. However, I rolled it a couple of weeks ago with the brace on for the first time. I thought it was a bad one, but I'm already walking normally and planning on trying to play on it in another week or two.

I'm not sure if you have tried the TriLok yet but it is definetely worth the money. I like it because it fits in my shoe and provides a ton of support without being too cumbersome. You can buy it online at trilokanklebrace.com or I think doctors can write a prescription for it...which is cool because then you don't have to pay much out of pocket. Give it a try.

I've used a similar product, worked real well. Good suggestion.

When I wear something, which is often, I wear one of those cheap little ace ankle bandages and have never had a problem with them on. But I have tweaked my ankle so many times that they are just crap now.
