If the Chiefs had a 'Mount Rushmore' would the faces be of? Lamar? Hank? Lenny? Otis? Buck? Would you put Tony up there? Anybody love Herm enough?

And I put 'NFL style' instead of 'Chiefs style' in the title so non chiefs fans can add thier team's version of Mount Rushmore.

Lamar, Hank, Otis and DT.

Scratch Snow for Todd Blackledge and you've got yourself a pretty solid list...

How about the anti-Rushmore?

Elvis Grbac, Lin Elliot, Ryan Sims...

You'd want to go with some different eras and recognizing different contributions.

Buck Buchanan - Defensive lineman representing the strength of the team, and one of the foremost warriors during the great Raider wars of the 1960s.

Derrick Thomas - Linebacker representing relentless quickness, and the one who led the Chiefs out of the Dark Ages.

Albert Lewis - Representing grace and athleticism, he personifiies the art of the kick block and the shutdown corner.

Len Dawson - Representing the founding fathers, he is the face of the ultimate victory.

In the NFL, I'd go with:

Red Grange: When football faced its Lexington and Concord, Red Grange was the guy they turned to.

Vince Lombardi: Football as a life philosophy, and how to turn talent into greatness.

Jack Lambert: What football would look like if it was a person.

Joe Montana: Football at its pinnacle.

I agree with this statement. Especially the Albert Lewis part.

For the NFL (coaches/owners):

Vince Lombardi- Greatest Coach Ever

George Halas- A Founding Father of the NFL

Tom Landry- A legend when the game evolved to the modern era.

Lamar Hunt- Homer pick, face of the AFL

For the NFL (Players)

Johnny Unitas- Simply the greatest QB. Not just what he did, but when he did it.

Jim Brown- Best.RB.Ever

Dick Butkus- Coach: "What happened to so-and-so?" Player: "I don't know, I think Butkus ate him!"

Red Grange- As Rain Man said, a man who saved the NFL.

For the KC Chiefs:

Bobby Bell- Best athlete to ever wear the Red and Gold, and a legendary LB

Lamar Hunt- Our George Washington

Len Dawson- Our Nathanael Greene

Derrick Thomas- Do I really need to explain why?

Though thinking literally about it, Mount Rushmore really should feature Priest, LJ, Okoye, and Ed Podolak.

You're right. Lamar should be on there in place of ... Buck? That would hurt. He'd be a better replacement for Len, but you have to have at least one offensive player.

Maybe you could go with Lamar (founding father), Buck (lineman, glory day guy), DT (the Renaissance), and Tony G (offensive player, skill player and the rise of the superathlete).

Also I would have Crazy Horse redone to look like Carl with an even bigger monument of Derrick Thomas getting ready to light his ass up from his blind side.

If we're going to have 5 faces now, I vote for putting Scanlon above the other four, peering down at them with a look of pity and condescension.

Buck Buchanon, Bobby Bell, Willie Lanier and DT.

Those are the four greatest Chiefs players ever.

Those are the guys that were differencemakers on the field, and the guys that I would have as the faces of the franchise.

Lamar Hunt, Willie Lanier, Derrick Thomas, Tony Gonzalez.

It's a tossup for Lanier and Bobby Bell really. But the other 3 are musts.

Lamar Hunt - Founder
DT - Almost single handedly changed the Franchise into a winner again
TG - Was the only reason the Chiefs ever had passing game the last 10 years.

Tony is a great TE, probably the greatest ever, but he plays a non premium position, and thus, his impact is way overrated by Chiefs fans.

So what if it's not a premium position.

He's been one of the biggest faces of this team since it's exsistence.

Tony isn't a QB or RB etc, but he's also the main reason this team ever had a passing game the last 10 years with the shitty WR's we've had since then.

And in the end, this team has played just above .500 ball since he was drafted.

Without him, they might be just a .500 team.

Minor impact.

Twenty some-odd years ago my father and I were traveling through and stopped to check that out. You couldn't see anything from the road so he paid to get in. He was pretty pissed off to find out that it was a whole lot of nothing. I see that it has a face on it now. Jeeeez. Twenty five years and they managed to get a few months work done already.

I would doubt that. I don't have much to back it up, but take away TG and IMO, the team wins many fewer games in his career.
