Here's an excerpt from a recent article about him:

Asked if he’s 100 percent, Bentley said, "I’m as good as I’m going to get. Obviously I can get better at some things. The sky’s the limit right now. I feel much better, much stronger, much more explosive than I’ve ever been."
Bentley participated only in individual drills Tuesday morning and was not on the field in the afternoon. But he looked good to teammates he barely knows.
"He’s in great shape," Fraley said. "Before his injuries, he was a great player. I think he still has that mentality, and you’re going to see something special out of him because he’s going to keep working hard until he gets there.
"I wish I had his athletic ability. He’s very strong. Some of the things he does I can’t ever do."

Let him start at Center and move Niswanger to Guard? Or maybe Bently can play Guard im not really sure. I just know I would rather have him on our line than Jones, yeah hes missed 2 years but he should be well rested :p and hes only 28 which isn't bad for an Olinemen.

For what we can get him for it's well worth it. Before his injury he was considered heads and shoulders above every other center in the NFL. He's only 28 and could very well still be close to that level. Even at 50% of his best he's still better then every center on our roster. Our center spot is the weakest in the NFL. There's no reason not to take a look.

Or better yet...
They can leave Niswanger at Guard (where he played well last year) and solidify two spots at once.

Me either.

After backing out of an unofficial agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Eagles)[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LeCharles_Bentley#cite_note-1), Bentley signed with the Cleveland Browns (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleveland_Browns) in 2006, and was regarded by ESPN (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ESPN) as the top-rated free agent (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_agent).
Bentley suffered a serious knee injury in training camp (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Football_League_Training_Camp) on July 27, 2006 during the first play on the first 11 on 11 training camp session. Browns general manager (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_manager) Phil Savage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Savage) has confirmed Bentley suffered a torn patellar tendon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patella), which kept him out for the entire 2006 season (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_NFL_season). Bentley revealed that he had undergone four operations since getting hurt, the final two to clean out a staph infection (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staph_infection) that ate away at his tendon and a virus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virus) that became so severe that doctors considered amputating (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amputation) his leg

He tore his patella tendon, and then got a serious staph infection and almost lost his leg. He was a pro-bowl player before this happened. The worst part was it was in shells practice it wasn't even full contact, never even saw the field for the Browns. If he is healthy I say we take him, before the injury he was one of if not the best center in the leage IMO. I met him while he played at tOSU he is one massive man.

I wonder if he even has any desire to play anymore, he may have just asked to be released because he knew his playing days are over, but then again wouldn't he have just retired?

That article I linked to earlier in the thread indicates he still wants to play.

My guess is that he knows the Browns moved on with their plans since he got injured and he wants to find a new home.

He'll start here. His motivation for asking for the release was to find a place that will give him a better chance to start. No place in football is better for a center looking for a rehab gig than KC. He's a big guy, he's an earth mover type. He's exactly what we need at C.

Not bringing him in when we're eleventy billion under the cap would piss me off almost as much as drafting Kris Wilson did. It would be completely assinine to not even see if he has anything left.

Bentley played a couple of seasons at RG as well. I would rather see Bentley come in and battle Jones at RG. Niswanger has said before that he feels a lot more comfortable at Center than he does at RG.

Adrian Jones needs some competition at RG. If it's not Bentley, then I hope KC brings someone in to compete.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports free agent OL LeCharles Bentley would prefer to play guard for his next team.

It's surprising Bentley is already being choosy. He's coming off a bunch of knee surgeries and was apparently timed in the 7s when the Browns asked him to run forties for his physical. He should be willing to play wherever.
Slow and wants to be picky about what position he plays? I doubt Herm will even consider giving him a tryout. Granted 40's time isn't exactly important for an O-Lineman, but I can run it faster being a little overweight and a smoker. I'd question the durability of his knees and agility.
