You mean, the over-hyped #1 pick? In 5 years people are going to ridicule Chicago for passing on player X, just like they ridiculed Portland for taking Sam Bowie.

Could that be a precursor to a Elton Brand and #4 for Shawn Marion and #2 trade? :hmmm:

You are retarded.

I think that Chicago is just stupid for taking Rose #1. In a wide open offense, he averaged 14.9 points per game. With a superstar laden team, Mario averaged 12.8. As the teams main point guard, Rose averaged 4.7 assists per game. Mario, playing shooting guard averaged 4.3 assists per game. Rose shot 34% from 3-point range, Mario 47%. Rose shot 48% from the field, Mario 52%.

I am not saying Mario should go number one, but Rose is such a product of media hype, it makes me sick. He was listed as 6'3" in college, but at the combine was 6'1".

Does that sound like someone that should be the #1 pick? I know you are a Memphis guy, but come on.

HolmeZz

Yep. I'd still rather just keep Beasley, deal Marion and then sign a big FA in 2009 or 2010.

Aside from the missed free throws at the end, the way Rose played in the second half of the championship game showed he is a special player. It was ugly, but when he knocked down that three off the backboard, I knew that this was a guy who could just score in any way possible, no matter what it took.

HolmeZz

HolmeZz
06-26-2008, 01:36 PM
Rose is clearly the right choice for Chicago IMO, but I don't think they're in much of a spot to get criticized anyway. They absolutely lucked into having the #1 pick. It's possible the pick doesn't pan out down the road, but there's not much that can be said negatively about their pick right now.

Ultra Peanut
06-26-2008, 01:38 PM
What did I leave out? His leadership? What?Leadership, speed, athleticism, strength, court vision, the way Memphis' offense works leading to assists being a poor representation of passing and court generalship, the fact that he was a freshman rather than a junior... aside from that stuff, they're totally the same.

Aside from the missed free throws at the end, the way Rose played in the second half of the championship game showed he is a special player. It was ugly, but when he knocked down that three off the backboardIt was a two. It was originally a three, but they went back and reviewed the video after a stoppage and determined that one foot was inside the arc when he launched himself backwards.

God ****ing damnit.

Oh yeah, forgot that. There was a stretch there where it seemed that no matter how closely KU was on him, there wasn't anything you could do to stop him from scoring.

Simmons is a bust who couldn't stay healthy while Yi didn't want to be in Milwaukee whatsoever. If Jefferson stays relatively healthy out there with Redd, Bogut, Charlie V and a solid #8 overall pick, the Bucks can certainly be a hell of a lot better than they've been in the past few years.

I just hope someone falls to 10. Its a shame that we (the Nets) didn't swap picks with the Bucks as part of the Jefferson trade. As it is now the Bobcats are likely to take anyone we are interested in.

That would definitely be the best offer. I'd seriously consider that if I was Miami. Rudy Gay is a player, Mike Conley could be the Heat's pg of the future, and at 5 they could grab someone like Love or Lopez.

Its probably false though.

Yeah, taking no less than third in the Big 12, still getting a bye in the Big 12 Tournament, and still getting an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament is a steep price to pay for a National Championship.:thumb:

if any ku fans are curious, i have

Arthur 11 (probably too high)
Rush 13 (Portland trades with someone who wants Rush)
Chalmers 17

OK, I know NOTHING about the NBA draft, but I'll take a stab.

I'd probably take Rush higher than Arthur because he has a much more polished game and is one hell of a smooth ball player. Plus he brings a lot to the table defensively.

Arthur has a lot of talent but tries to be a big man to much. I think he needs to develop his midrange game in order to be more effective.

Chalmers, I don't know. He is a defensive monster and a good kid. His shot in the NC shot him way up. I'd say you probably have him too high, not sure though.
