My wife and I used to go 2 or 3 times a week and play the free poker tournaments around town, just to relax and have some fun without spending too much money. We've fallen out of th habit the past year, or so. Do some of them still go on? We used to go every Wednesday to Oquigley's in Lee's Summit, and some other places other nights.
Does anyone know of a schedule of tournaments that still go on?

Thanks.

Which O'Quigleys in Lees Summit?

The one on Woods Chapel. We played poker on Wednesday nights there for at least 2-3 years.

I don't know about free poker.

But which casino is the best to play poker? NL Hold Em. I'm looking for a good place to play tourney's every once in a while. Is the Argosy any good?

I think there is something of that nature at Side Pockets on the south end of Blue Springs.

I think they still have tourneys in Olathe (where it's ALWAYS 79 & sunny) at Shooters and Pickerings.

74 and sunny, dummy. Don't screw up the Olathe forecast!

I think the free poker thing rotates between the various Side Pockets; the one on Englewood in the Northland has had them in the past.

I used to go to the one at Paddy O'Quigley's, but I believe it was on Tuesday's. However, from what I understand, they have changed ownership and no longer have poker.

I also heard that Harvey Wallbanger's (downtown Lee's Summit) has free poker but I'm not sure what night.

Poker Pub runs a lot of bar tournaments in KC. Check out their schedule here:

I might have the nights mixed up. I thought we went to Tanner's on Tuesdays and Oquigs on Wednesdays... but I may have it mixed up.
Thanks for the website. I appreciate the help.

Check out Harvey Wallbanger's. I'm certain they have one, I just don't know which night.

How the flip does a person lose with this.

Playing Omaha. I have something, King, ace, queen in my hand.
Dude has: Queen, Queen, something, something.

Flop is: king, king, queen.
Turn: 6
River: 6

and my full house is 3 Kings and 2 6's
his is 3 queens and 2 6's.

Why did I lose that hand?

You must not know the rules of Omaha then.

I haven't played in nearly two years. So, I'm relearning everything.

I guess I'm not understanding how I lost.

Edit:

Since you are relearning the game, in Omaha, you have to play two of your four hole cards

Yeah, I knew that. I played the King and had a full house with 3 kings.

Isn't it the higher set wins? His set was Queens...mine was kings.
