This damn series has got me hooked.
I pop in Band of Brothers every couple of years and watch it from start to finish. This has the potential to be one of those types.

I don't know the characters names yet (other than the Godfather) but it was the same with the Sopranos, it took me a while.

Good stuff! :thumb:

It's an HBO mini-series Band of Brothers type film for the Iraq war.

Looks that way so far. Very worthwhile hour of TV.

I'm not ready to say B.of B's good, but it has a chance. Got a nice slow build of the characters started, if it delivers with the story and action then it's DVD buying worthy

"Hey Brad, you should have gone to war with a sword....that would have been f*$%kin' awesome"

That was a really funny bit --- talking about how guys were lured into service. Short driver said Brad was swayed by the marine fighting the dragon commercial.

I really want to watch this show....but I feel really wrong watching it while the war is still being fought (and soldiers are still dying).

Not a rant here....just a comment (am I the only one who feels weird about this?)

It's not bad, but it damn sure isn't Band of Brothers.

IMO, the central characters aren't terribly interesting or likable.

I'll keep watching, but I'm not all that impressed, considering what HBO has done in the past.

Well you can't tell me that the beginning of Band of Brothers (even thought it was needed to setup the rest of the series) wasn't boring as hell? Give it time it looks promising.

When I pop in the BoB DVD's I usually FF or skip the 1st DVD altogether.
For some reason Ross (from friends) kills it for me.

If that's the case, start putting money back for the DVD set. Simon & Burns always strive for authenticity, and so far, they've done a great job translating the book to film. For the most part, every character is exactly how I envisioned them, and I expect the upcoming shows to delve deeper into the fog of war while still delivering the action.

Took me a minute on Sixta, placing his accent/inflection. Sixta is Cotton.

Its not even the first TV show about the Iraq war. There was one on FX a few years back called "Over There". It wasnt all that good though.

Dunno who all knows, but 'Gay' Rudy is played by the real Rudy Reyes, of KCMo.

They tried to find somebody to play his part, but they couldn't find a man that was as bad ass, spiritual, and good looking as he was, so he just did it himself.

If Generation Kill is the next BoB, then Rudy Reyes is the next Chuck Norris.

The actor also plays a gay firefighter on Rescue Me. This role is a bit of a switch.

I really liked Over There, but I think I was the only one, so it got cancelled after one season.
