I notice this seems to happen every off-season since I have been visiting CP and yes there have been some annoying post this year. Maybe more than previous off-seasons. As for the influx of posters luv is talking about, I think they are mostly just run of the mill trolls. They might have some tie to a football team, but I doubt it's of primary importance as it is with many planeteers.

Also, I'd agree the way they act like they know everything is really annoying...especially to those of us that do. :p

We've actually got a pretty fool-proof method of finding duplicate accounts at this point. I won't reveal the technical details of how it works, but it's probably about 95% effective.

If there's anyone who's acting like a major d-bag, I usually look a little further into it to see if there's some chance the system misses someone.

Anyway, I don't know of any frequent posters who are dup accounts (aside from Programmer, who everyone knows is - ahem, shut your mouth -). If there's anyone you strongly suspect, shoot me a PM and I'll look into it.

It's normal offseason behavior. I'm actually a little surprised, as I can't remember the last time there was a major mock thread event like the frat-rhyme thing today. Anyway, I'm not really here for football in the offseason, so I don't really care why other people are here. Offseason speculation gets old... whether it's 'guess our record' or 'who's he going to sign with / when is he going to sign', etc. I'm here to armchair quarterback and bitch about Herm's decisions in hindsight. :D

I've never really understood the craving for attention by trying to get under the skin of strangers over the internet. Even if I did understand it, I wouldn't understand how it can be entertaining the millionth time versus the first 500 thousand or so.... or if people really think they get people foaming-at-the-mouth-angry just because they respond in caps and use red smilies.

Take the Midnight Douche thing... there's a group of people who think it's cool to post something about him or his bike or whatever in every thread, and then there's MD who has been using the same schtick for what seems like 3 months. How does that stay entertaining?
