Tony Gonzalez needs 43 catches to move into the Top Ten all-time in receptions. 100 catches could move him as high as 8th, though the current #8 and #9 receivers are still active (McCardell and T. Owens).

Tony Gonzalez needs 118 receiving yards to be the 29th, 39th, or 31st player to reach 10,000 receiving yards. (Two active players need fewer yards - M. Muhammed and E. Moulds)

A 1,000 yard receiving year would move Tony G. as high as 21st in career receiving yards. (He would need to pass three active players - Moulds, Muhammad, and Galloway.)

8 receiving TDs will move Tony G. into the top 25 all time.

169 rushing attempts will put Larry Johnson into the top 100 of all time (possibly needs 194 if McGahee gets a lot of attempts).

362 attempts could get LJ as high as 75th in career rushing attempts, pending the carries of several active players.

340 yards rushing will put Larry into the top 100 rushers of all time. (Add 17 yards if Brian Westbrook picks up similar yardage.)

A 1,500 yard season could move Larry as high as 62nd in career rushing yards.

2 rushing touchdowns will put Larry in the top 50 of all time.

10 rushing touchdowns could put Larry as high as 38th all time.

16 starts will move Donnie Edwards as high as 74th on the list of career games started.

2 interceptions will move Donnie Edwards into the top 200 all-time.

1 interception will put Patrick Surtain in the top 100 all-time.

4 interceptions will put Patrick Surtain as high as 71st

10 interceptions would put Surtain as high as 47th

5 safeties will make Glenn Dorsey the #1 all-time safety producer in NFL history.

Nice stats. A few ones that will be cool to see happen.

Larry Johnson only needs like 1200 yards to pass Priest.

I don't think it's very likely that Gonzalez will out perform Owens the other guys sure.

If you are going to be optimistic and hope, you might as well go all the way.

Is Dorsey on pace for the 5 safeties at this point in training camp? Pretty exciting stuff for a rookie, I must say. This is frankly better than I expected.

If Dorsey can average 12.5 sacks/game this season he will tie Bruce Smith's record for most career sacks.

Let us think in terms of achievable success: If the Chiefs post a 0-16 record, they will be the first franchise in history to reach that unfathomable record.

They did start the next season 0-12 though. Starting your franchise off at 0-26 has to be some sort of record.

Who would be the schmucks that would keep us away from this elite record?:#

Some of these milestones speak to how much the NFL has done to give offenses a competitive edge over the years.

By the end of this season Shannon Sharpe will be unable to boast any stat above Gonzo.

The offensive philosophies evolved because the NFL passed rules to give offenses the advantage.

I'd disagree.

As a defense homer I think teams/FO's changed because the perception of what people wanted to see changed.

The perception is that offense garners high ratings and every team wants the prime time...

I think that's, in part, why the NFL changed rules.

It all started with the AFL and the ratings they got because they were perceived as a wide open league.

I think he needs at least 6 more pro bowls and a couple of Super Bowl rings (whether the latter is fair or not). I think offensive linemen pretty much have to fill up both hands with pro bowl rings, don't they? And Waters only has one so far.

If Carl Peterson and Herm Edwards get run over by a bus while leaving the stadium they will be the first GM/Head Coach tandem to be run over by a bus in NFL history.

By the end of this season Shannon Sharpe will be unable to boast any stat above Gonzo.

Think about that, and consider the QB's each TE had...

Boath are HOF TE's but to compare them is apples and oranges.

TG is a catching TE, he coldn't have been on the teams Sharpe was on because his blocking isn't good enough.

Each has their own strong points but to imply Gonzo is better than Sharpe is baseless.

How about this stat, does it mean Sharpe is better than Gonzo?

Sharpe- 3 SB rings
Gonzo- O SB rings

Gonzo is better than sharpe and is a good blocker as well

early in his career that was his knock but he improved greatly
even sharpe couldn't win a superbowl with grbac

Oh I'm with you, I remember the Elvis days fondly.
The argument was put forth that Sharpe would not have won a SB without a dominant QB.
The fact is he won a SB with a sub-par QB who was biasically Grbac with a better team around him.
