View Full Version : Fantasy Football Haven't played FF in a while...

But I decided to go in on an office pool this year (figure this would be a good diversion to keep me interested if the Chiefs REALLY struggle). But, I admit, I haven't followed Fantasy stats for a while.
The league only allows 4pnts for a QB passing TD and 1 pnt for every 20 passing yards. I have the fifth pick, only two selections have been made so far:
1. Tomlinson
2. A. Peterson
I figure two more RB's to go at 3 and 4 (Addai and Westbrook). So, do I take the best available RB (both Jackson and Johnson worry me a bit) or do I bite the bullet early, despite the low points/per and take QB Brady? Theoretically, one of the top 4 QB's could be available in the second round. Any suggestions?

I would take Jackson, but i fyou're uncomfortable with him Brady is your best bet IMO. I wouldn't touch LJ with any pick prior to 11.

In my opinion since QB's are only give 4pts in your league (opposed to 6) I would go RB. Personally, I don't have a probably with taking LJ with the #5 pick.
Another favorite I have this year around where you are drafting is Frank Gore. In the Martz offense out in SanFran now, Gore is going to see the ball a lot especially more so in the passing game.

Jackson is 4.67, Brady is 6.33, and LJ is 10.0 for ADP

i disagree about gore, Mike Martz being his OC, means hes gonna get less touches IMO

Go with Jackson. If it were 6pts for a passing TD I'd go with Brady or even Manning at #5.

I would go with Addai.....but that's just me.

Not necessarily. Keep 3 total players - but can only keep 1 per position and 2 offensive players & 1 defensive player.

If Westbrook and Addai are both available who went at 3 and 4??
Also do you get ppr in your league? If yes then go with Westy...if no I still say S. Jackson.

You should pick up Brandon Marshall. If he doesn't produce in the first couple of games you can always drop him.

The only thing that worries me about Berrian is the QB. If they somehow trade for Favre. I'm all over Berrian.
We get points for return yards and TD's which makes Mojo Drew a top 10 RB.

I look at it like this,Berrian in Chicago had Grossman as a qb and not much of a running game,in Minny he may have Tavaris but he's also got one helluva rb to keep defenses honest.

Also do you get ppr in your league? If yes then go with Westy...if no I still say S. Jackson.
Brady went 3rd, Jackson 4th. I went with Westbrook, seems like Indy always finishes with a couple games they don't care about and rests their players, if I'm lucky enough to get to the playoffs, that strategy might sink me.

Alright, I figured I'd bump this instead of starting my own thread. I need some advice on who to keep in my league. I can only keep two players, and I have to sacrifice a pick in the draft in accordance with where those players are currently ranked. Here are the guys I'm thinking of keeping, and the pick I would have to give up to keep them:
Larry Johnson (2nd rounder): Not sure about Chiefs offense this year, how he will bounce back, and how many carries he will be splitting with Smith and Charles.
Marion Barber (2nd rounder): TD machine. Only downside is he is still handcuffed with Felix Jones.
Braylon Edwards (2nd rounder): Another TD machine, can he duplicate last season?
Ben Rothelisberger (4th rounder): Had a great season, and 4th round seems like very good value for him. Can he put up 32 TDs again?
Laurence Maroney (4th rounder): Very disappointing last year, but I bet the Pats focus more on the run. Just not sure about his red zone carries and splitting time with Lamont Jordan and others.
Reggie Bush (3rd rounder): Has never been a really good fantasy guy.
Fred Taylor (5th rounder): Had an awesome season, and good value here, but can he put up 1000 yds again? Will he stay healthy?
If I decide to keep two people from the same round, that means I sacrifice the pick from that round and the next round, so keeping Marion Barber and LJ would mean giving up a 2nd and 3rd round pick.
Right now, I am leaning towards Barber and Rothelisberger, because I would still get a 1st and 3rd round pick. I am tempted by LJ, though. I know I'm a homer, but I think he can bounce back, and if anyone is getting red zone touches on the Chiefs, it will be him. What do you guys think?

I'd go with either of these three options.
Braylon Edwards and Larry Johnson - 2nd and 3rd
Braylon Edwards and Marion Barber - 2nd and 3rd
Braylon Edwards and Ben Rothelisberger - 2nd and 4th
Do you see a pattern here? Braylon Edwards is worth a 2nd round pick.

If it's typical scoring where QB's are all pretty much the same you need to keep Barber and Edwards who would go in the 2nd and 3rd, Edwards was the 2nd best WR in the league last year.

Yeah, QBs aren't nearly as important as an elite RB or WR. The only reason I'm tempted by Rothelisberger is that he had 32 TDs to 11 INTs last year, and I can seal up my QB spot with only a 4th round pick, still leaving me the 1st and 3rd to take up other RBs and WRs (whichever ones aren't keepers). Still, Barber and Edwards would be a great 2nd and 3rd round, so maybe you're right and I should just go with that.
Actually, I just looked over last years fantasy totals in our league, and I was wrong. The top 8 scorers were QBs. Rothelisberger had 271 points and Ladanian and Randy Moss only had 233 points.

Yes but here's what you have to look at, the difference in the position.
What is the difference in say the 4th QB and the 10th QB and the difference in Edwards and a WR going later than him....
If a QB 12 spots lower than Roethlisberger is only say 30-50 points less where at the WR position it's a 100 you're seeing the gap if what you have to do to win.
Good point. It actually looks like the drop off between QB and WR is bigger.
Rothelisberger had 271 points. Ten spots down is over a 100 point difference (to Eli Manning and Phillip Rivers).
Edwards had 174 points. Ten spots down is only a 50 point drop off (to Brandon Marshall and Devin Hester).
Marion Barber had 145 points. Ten spots down is a 45 point drop off (to LenDale White and Fred Taylor).
Now, I know that I shouldn't base everything off of how people scored last season, but it actually looks like the QB pick is more important, and only giving up a 4th might make sense there. If I do that, the hard part will be deciding between Barber and Edwards.

This is true but he can use a 1st round pick on a RB and then grab another one in the 4th.
I personally would go with Edwards and Barber/LJ...but that's just me. Apparently his league scores higher for QBs.

lol....some people are idiots when it comes to FF. I've seen people pass up stupid stuff in the 1st round.
One kid in my league 6 years ago drafted Doug Flutie in the 1st round.
