It is no coincidence that Brett Favre is on the cover of Madden NFL 2009. EA Sports and Favre have staged Brett's retirement and eventual reinstatement in an effort to boost sales of the new Madden game.

March 5, 2008 Favre announces his plans to retire
April 25, 2008 EA Sports announces Favre as the cover athlete for Madden 2009
August 4, 2008 Favre will be reinstated
August 12, 2008 Madden 2009 released in stores

The NFL may be a part of it. Espn, nfl network, too. Biggest scam in sports history. Everyone wants on the Madden-Money-Train.

i dont think Madden needs help selling it's games anyway...why would they even think about doing this? They're the only NFL video game out right now. all others blow azz

now if ESPN was still making its NFL games i could see that. ESPN couldnt sell its games for crap, everyone already knows Madden rules all of sports gaming

well i talked about that with my man and we both agreed that it was stupid for john madden to put his picture on the cover, its pretty retarded that with every new rookie that could have great potential should have been put on the cover insted of a man that could not play, be released, or traded. they should have put someone that is gonna be great on the cover insted... unless they did plan a brett favre's "retirement" anything is possible if stars want to be in the news every ****ing two seconds.

Was listening to a Wisconsin reporter just a bit ago on Petro's show and he said he believes Favre will be a Viking by opening day.Crap,if that happens I'm moving Bernard Berrian way up on my FF cheat sheet
