I did. Pre-season or not I expected us to lose. We showed some heart tonight. You can tell the Offense buys into Gailey much more than Solari. There may be hope for an 8-8 season.

Actually I didn't really give much thought to whether we would win or lose - it is a preseason game afterall.

True..but for this team a W in the pre-season is saying something.

A win is good for these guys. I'm pretty happy although I didn't expect it.

But, it just goes to show what you can do with a Sippio on your side.

Actually it would show our young talent is improving. I don't buy into the losing for the sake fo a draft pick BS. If this young group can go out and win 8+ games this season more power to them. That is a sign of getting better.

You know what your right... with the youth it is a good thing, With Huard or Pennington at QB, it would be a death sentence...

It was nice for once to see our backups play and win. How many seasons, even under DV and Marty has it been since our bench didn't show leagues of difference from our starters? Maybe that says something about our starters though?

I am thrilled that our coaching staff didnt get a total brain fart or quit on the players.

That is a big step forward.

We may be headed the right direction, or not.

We need a decent QB (could be Croyle--or not,) we need Dorsey, DJ, and Hali to live up to their billing and potential, and we need an Offensive Line that plays better, and more consistently, that ours did tonight. And we need someone besides Bowe and Gonzo to throw to....which, it appears, we could have.

Then, and only then....can we begin to think about competing for a "home" game in January...which should be our minimum goal, IMHO.

It's preseason. The men are fighting for a roster spot.

But, all in all, it was nice to see....
1. some football from the Chiefs
2. some excitement and heart from the chiefs.

I hope the excitement and heart continues throughout the season. only time will tell.

In most games. I'm okay w/ the Chiefs not winning every game. I'd prefer a win. But as long as they actually show up and play and they keep it interesting. I'm all about it.

Though the Chiefs have a lot of guys who really want to play and they want to win. It was a night and day difference from last years first pre-season game.

So far so good.

Gailey is WAY ****ING BETTER than Solari's predictable shit.

Even Peterson said in that interview during the game, "well at least this offense isn't predictable."

No shit. Oh, and **** YOU Carl.

There may be hope for an 8-8 season.

That would be bad. We either need to shock the world and go to the playoffs or come up with a 5-11 or 6-10 record with respectable performances in the losses.

Alot of bad teams win preseason games....

So I guess the Chiefs are good since they los all thier pre-season games last year :D lol just playin.

But hey, pre-season or not. Should we just sit down and not cheer for our team? Coming off of a 9 game losing streak, we won!

I didn't expect them to lose, because there is more of an emphasis this year to try to win preseason games ... although the final score isn't the most important thing in preseason, it's good to get the young guys a taste of winning ... I didn't know if we'd beat Chicago, but I knew for sure we wouldn't go 0-4.

08-08-2008, 12:58 AM
I didn't know if we'd win or lose, but I damn sure figured we'd be trailing by the time we pulled our starters. Granted, we played like ass at times, and Chicago definitely ain't all that, but we were clearly the better team tonight, and that was without Dorsey or Albert. Winning the game was just gravy. But it sure did feel good to see a win after all these horrible months.

Weighing in, having only seen the opening drive, on NFL network using Bears broadcasters. That was an impressive opening drive by any standards. Plenty going wrong [mostly from Larry Johnson], but way more going right.
Man, to hear the Bears broadcasters talk time after time about how good their D was at 3rd down shutdowns, only to have Brodie throw to Cottam or Cox for a 1st.

And then to cap it with Larry redeeming himself with a TD run.

Hey, at least I got to enjoy the first 20 minutes of the season.

Baby Lee
08-08-2008, 05:00 AM
Bears broadcasters not loving the first half. Tried to put lipstick on the pig "hey, if they stop Brodie on that broken play he ran for a first down . . ." Later backtracking "of course, somewhere on that drive they needed a stop."

Nothing from their O, two big drives, one a sustained drive with 5/5 3rd down conversions, one in the 2 minute O.

Biggest groaner of the half, Larry missing the block on the screen and Hutard going fetal for a 10+ yard sack.

Even though it's preseason... it's refreshing to see a change in scheme on offense... the Chiefs will be a little more promising than I thought! I think the audibles are a much needed addition, and with the exception of some players apparently not knowing the signals, this will definitely lead to more scoring! The kickoff return game didn't make me vomit in disgust, and we've got some really talented young players!

Croyle looked like an NFL QB... that bullet to Franklin was a perfect throw... and FAST.
Larry Johnson looked like a rookie out there (pre-snap). Time to hit the books.
The next jersey I purchase will be #25. I foresee big plays coming from this dude.
DJ made some good-looking plays.
SIP-PI-O!!! Give him a spot! He's got fight in him.
I'd like to see the Charles/Savage return game more... Savage is little and his legs move too fast for his body... but if he finds a rhythm he could be the new X-factor. I say put him back there to return punts if he makes the squad.
Something about Surtain really bothers me... still.

I WAS expecting to see more garbage football, but instead, KC killed it with a monster first drive. What I WANTED to see was the Chiefs score a TD on an opening drive, and much to my surprise, they did it! Air Chan gets some cred. With a bit of solidarity on both the O-line and D-line... and this team IS A CONTENDER.

I know, I know... it's the first game of the preseason, but F you, I'll take what I can get!!

GO CHIEFS!
