I have noticed some unbelievably low prices on vehicles lately on craigs list. Anyone else notice this. An example.

What am I missing here?

Looks like something you see in a spam email to get around filters... not sure why you'd need that for craigslist since you manually flag posts.

edit: looks like it was flagged for removal...

</td></tr></tbody></table>Hi,i see from your email that you are interested in the condition of the Toyota.
So you have to know that the suv is 100% working and looking very good, no flaws or dents,
no scratches or any kind of damage, no flood or wrecked and it has a clear title, the interior
looks great, brand new condition because I took good care of it like it was my baby (the car is
located in Ephraim, Utah ready to be shipped). This is a regretful sale but unfortunately i
need money for my son, he is in hospital and i really need money for him. This is why i am
selling the car so cheap.BUY IT NOW for $ 4,100 because i want to close a quick and smooth
deal with a serious person. About the shipping i can tell you that will be done through DAS
and it will take no more than 3 days. The car will be insured at the shipping company for the transport
and the shipping cost is free because my brother work's at the shipping company and he has 1
transportation per year for free. If you are still interested please reply me asap.

And if the email isn't bad enough, the pics in that link show that the truck she says is located in Utah is licensed in Indiana.

I just have to wonder how many people out there are stupid enough to fall for something like this, especially when it's executed this poorly.

Good catch on the plates. Unfortunately, I think there are plenty of people that are dumb enough to fall for this. I have reported every listing on there that looks really fishy like this one. Hopefully, they will cut them off from craig's list.

I sent an email inquiry about that Highlander. I got this reply.

Email back and tell her you would like to drive down and take a look when you're in Salt Lake City next week on business... trust her but have been burned before, very interested, blah blah blah.

When she makes an excuse, tell her if it's shipped, it'll have to be shipped to a special location and it'll cost a couple hundred dollars to, um.. store or get or something. Ask if she can pay for it up front, since you can't buy it on site, and because it would make you feel a little more comfortable about the whole thing. Little Timmy can wait, right?

Anything that does not involve you meeting the person locally to see it and exchange money is a scam. Any vehicle that has to be shipped is a scam. Any payment that comes from overseas is a scam. Supposedly, fake money orders and cashiers checks are very common. If it is too good to be true, it's a scam.

Doing anything but buying locally and transacting in cash is asking for trouble on there.

That being said, I have sold and bought things on there and done ok.

there's no car. they will ask him to pay, probably by western union, and promise the car will be shipped from someplace else, but the car doesn't exist and neither will his money.

I was guessing it was in Topeka, and shipping was just an option. What can I say, I just glanced at the whole thing.

Craig's list is funny for sellers too.

I got a guy the other day asking about a car I have listed for several thousand dollars who emailed me asking me if I would take 2/3 of the asking price. The best part was that the email ended "Sent from my iPhone." He pays $130-150 a month for a cellphone and he's a cheapass.

Your chart is a bit outdated. You can get the iphone for $200 and the plan is 70. That is no where near 140 a month.
