you think of your 'greatest sports moments' of this decade, and this is all you can come up with:

49ers beating Denver in 2006 on an OT field goal to advance the Chiefs to the playoffs!

I dont know....winning the Orange Bowl and National championship was pretty nice!

In terms of sheer happiness, I can't say anything topped the feeling I had when I watched that field goal clear the uprights...

Going into the day, I would've bet me own life the Chiefs had no chance of making the playoffs...

So that was a good day.

What about when Tynes made that awesome punching move?

Funny, I was just talking about that with one of my customers yesterday, weren't there at least two other teams that had to lose that day as well? I can't recall exactly what all had to happen for us to get in.

Since we have no big accomplishments in recent memory for Chief's "moments" it comes down to individual plays during games, not whole seasons and not even entire games. I think of some of Priest's and LJ's big games, the game against ATL when we got the rushing TD in a game record and absolutely crushed the Falcons. The brief amount of time Priest held the season rushing TD record. Tony Gonzalez. Big sacks at key moments. Those are my Chiefs memories. It's an accumulation of good/decent moments that equals the whole.

Yeah, there was this almost impossible scenario where like you said a couple of key teams had to lose and we had to win and all the planets had to be aligned. That was pretty cool but I had NO hopes once we did make the playoffs so I wasn't too stoked.

What? I've been under the impression that the fact that we didn't curbstomp the Colts in their own house was metaphysical proof that Herm is the worst coach in the history of higher primates.

Pittsburgh pulled off a Santonio Holmes miracle as well...someone missed a gimme field goal in that game to allow it to happen, too...

I remember that day.... I was getting updates from the server at The Outback, and everyone was like "oh well" when the Broncos were up 14-3 (or something like that).. and I told them it was still early. Got home to see most of the 2nd half, and the next day decorated a coworker's cube with newspaper clippings.

Of course, the Chiefs' playoff game was so bad, he didn't even have to do anything to get back at me... he figured I had been through enough. Bronco pity. :doh!:

Good day, but I'll have to go with the final few minutes + OT of Kansas/Memphis. :)

Kansas/Memphis was awesome, I like the Jayhawks...but the only team I am DIEHARD for is the Chiefs...

Oh yeah, I remember watching that on Gamecast, and I think I got a CBS update after it happened. Crazy day of football.

yeah, somehow we were the favorites that game, in their house. Then Herm played "safe" and lost the game. D played Great

Too bad we couldn't have taken the Defense from the Herm vs. Indy playoff game and combined it with the Offense from Vermeil vs. Indy playoff game.....

Could've blown em out then. Where's Marty McFly when you need him....

I used to be like that, but in the past few years I've gotten more and more into college sports. It's not the same when you're spending $100 for a ticket + parking to watch a game (especially at the moment), or trying to watch a live game while listening to 101 and having to put up with commercials after every three plays.

It's gotten to the point where if I can't get to my DVR on any given weekend so I can skip commercials (which means waiting until halftime so the whole game is commercial-free :banghead: ), I'd rather spend my Saturday watching college games than spend my Sunday watching the NFL.

Regardless of the debacle that ensued in Indianapolis the next week, that was one of the funnest days of football I've ever watched. The drama, the impossible nature of us making the playoffs, it set up some fantastic drama that won't be matched for a while. Even us winning a playoff game won't be as exciting as all of that going down. Tell me going into that game against Indy you didn't feel like we could do what the Steelers did the year before? It was a great day for Chiefs fans.

Hootie, you might think your life sucks because the sports team you support doesn't do well.

If that is the case, I pity you.

It certainly doesn't mean my life sucks, just that the team I'm a fan of sucks.

I was about to post "what about beating the Oilers and heading to the AFC championship" and then the cold, terrible, reality hit me...... It's been that long. What a sh*tty sh*tty decade.

I liked this. I remember having the feeling that if all these miracles and stars aligned to put us into the playoffs, then it must be meant to be.

But as fate would have it, there was no fate.

Really, I spent money and went to the game.

BRC is to blame, might be WP.
I guess it was WP, his car was not red. I had a 100% record until they made me drink Jägermeister.

Well, that's the only true championship any of my teams has won since the 80s. Other than that, it's just been fleeting moments here and there. Still fresh enough that the monkey's off my back, though.

I kind of see your point. I will never forget that day ... it sure is a good thing we cashed in on the opportunity and completely folded the next week in the playoffs ...

Hell I was as excited as anyone, but in hind-sight, that's what happens to teams in the playoffs who don't have any business in the playoffs.

We were a different team in 2006 from weeks 4-12, before and after that we weren't close to a playoff team. The '06 Chiefs were knives in a gunfight once they hit the playoffs.
