For two coaching staffs, LJ has refused to pass-block. Given that is one of, if not the most important role of a RB, should he be benched to allow Smith and Charles an opportunity to develop their pass-blocking skills before Croyle gets back?

Yes he should be benched.

Not only is he a liability as a pass blocker, he's also shown he isn't anything to write home about as a receiver, and he has further shown that he has no patience and vision.

Ask that question about week 5 or 6. To early to tell IMHO.

They should trade him for a decent offensive lineman. Tony too. A mediocre RB can still gain behind a good O-line but nobody can score behind a bad O-line. Then use this year to build chemistry and next year, with a high draft pick, get a quality QB or trade the pick to get a quality QB.

He has very little trade value........

I would love to see it myself Skip, I haven't warmed up to the guy for a long time.

No, never ever. If he's not the same, run him into a wall of defenders every damn play. He's getting paid way too much money to be a puss about things. Real men play the game for the game, not the money. If he doesn't start playing like he should, I'm sure there's some shelves somewhere that need stocking.

Should the entire O-line be benched?

You'd need to have someone with the heart of Walter Payton to run behind this line. Larry also is not a purely tackle to tackle runner. We aren't even trying to get him outside to spread the defense.

After what I have seen today, my answer is YES, without question. Old lay down Larry is a waste of space. :shake:

I blame THE MAN for holding Leon down.
THE MAN makes Leon look bad.
Leon should be traded to a contender.
Like Randy Moss and TO, Leon is a game changer.
Leon wants out of KC.
Leon hates THE MAN.

I don't think LJ is being "a puss" about things. The coaching staff would rather play young guys, period. They start LJ, and after 10-12 plays, they bench him and have plenty of excuses (i.e. we're behind we have to pass, we need to see what our young guys can do, etc)

I don't understand why Kolby isn't starting. The last two seasons he's had a higher YPC average than LJ, he's a better pass blocker, and a better reciever.
