Lenny has, on many occasions, said that, had they won that game, the Chiefs would have been a dynasty for many, many years. He says the air just sort of came out of the franchise after that loss and they never fully recovered. The Cincy game may have had the same kind of effect.

The truth is, though, that we've been a franchise which, for years, has focused on building either a solid offense or a solid defense. One or the other. Season after season. Coach after coach. It's been decades (literally) since we fielded a team that was competitive on both sides of the ball. It's been a combination of pitiable drafting and inconsistency in coaching philosophies. That's been the problem. That is the problem.
