Just because we have 7 days until our next game... lets throw some shit at the wall and see if anything sticks.

Trade for McNabb who has had a resurgence this year and looks like the McNabb of old.

Mobile, strong, playoff experience, and still in his prime at QB.

I think that with McNabb not only do we get a proven QB, it will also open a 4-5 year window in which to hand pick our QB of the future and develop him properly as opposed to just throwing him to the wolves by asking him to start from day 1.

Not to mention that in 2 years, when we are ready to make a SB run, he should still be a great QB barring any massive injuries or rapid decline.

He's owed a hundred billion dollars over the next 6 years. The Eagles can't trade him, and won't trade him.

McNabb is a very very good QB. He has done most of his damage in Philly with crappy recievers. He is the new era John Elway IMO. He does have a little better running back, but he's more like a slash type running back.

*edit* i dont think he's as good John Elway, but i had to compare them as i think they are the ones that carry their team offensively.

McNabb still hasn't shown an ability to consistently come through in the clutch, and he gets hurt way too much. He's probably the most physically talented quarterback in the league, but a lot of times he doesn't trust his own abilities.

erm.... no he isnt.

He is locked only into the first 9 years of the contract he signed back in 2002.

Donovan McNabb-McNabb signed his 12 year, 115 million dollar contract during the 2002 season. The deal voids down to 9 years, 70 million; which locks him up through the 2010 season. He recieved a 13.5 mil signing bonus when he signed the deal, and a 7 mil option bonus in March 2004. The following cap numbers were reported by Len Pasqueralli:
2002: $5,754,000 (1.5 mil base salary) 2007: $8,835,000 (5.5 mil base salary)
2003: $7,871,000 (4 mil base salary) 2008: $9,635,000 (6.3 mil base salry)
2004: $8,948,000 (4 mil base salary) 2009: $9,206,000 (9.2 mil base salary)
2005: $8,949,000 (4 mil base salary) 2010: $10,006,000 (10 mil base salary)
2006: $8,834,000 (5.5 mil base salary)

They would take a 3.3million hit salary cap wise but would receive draft pick compensation + be let out of 20million worth of salary.

Just 6 months ago the papers were buzzing about how McNabb might be dealt to Chicago which tells me that the Eagles are at least open to the thought of moving McNabb if the right offer were made.

The Club option is after the '09 season. So, unless you are willing to trade a 1st and a 3rd for 28 games of Donovan McNabb, you are going to have to renegotiate an even bigger contract that will butt **** your cap once you cut him because he sucks at 35. Either that, or you exercise the option and pay him astronomical numbers 10, 12, 14, 16 million per year.

Trade LJ for McNabb
and throw in a second rounder

then draft some defense and offense.

Charles can be LJ's replacement...

Did you notice how many times LJ pass blocked yesterday? TRY ZERO
