CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) - Carolina Panthers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/car/;_ylt=AvxlRKJvsYAau.P6OSKh47ALubYF) starting left tackle Jordan Gross (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6344/;_ylt=AiVj4e_4YopheY.0ns4t7XgLubYF) will miss Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/kan/;_ylt=AsNdlpJfxcdGFkjs6Kd_gzsLubYF) with a concussion, coach John Fox announced Friday.

The Panther also could be without starting right tackle Jeff Otah (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/8796/;_ylt=AsY2ifjlc5ABz93HUNIFTjkLubYF), who is doubtful with a sprained right ankle.

Gross and Otah both were injured in last week’s 24-9 victory over the Atlanta Falcons (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/atl/;_ylt=AkEM7RGKJSH1D9jrGpMsuFQLubYF).

“It’s part of the game,” said Fox, who did not reveal who would start at the tackle spots. “We’ve dealt with it before and we’ll deal with it again.”

Jeremy Bridges (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6521/;_ylt=AqwU6ZIMkaHndc_6zzu9dskLubYF), who already has replaced Otah during games this season, could get the call at right tackle if the rookie is unable to go. Bridges started 14 games at right tackle in 2006.

A possible replacement for Gross could be Frank Omiyale (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/7339/;_ylt=Al331ssFvdEbVV6mRKXtsCwLubYF), who never has started an NFL game.

He didnt produce against Oakland who had a first time starter going against him.

Moving him was a mistake. He's obviously not put together to be a dominant RDE.

They need to move his ass back over to the left side where he belongs.

Well the Raiders were running the ball a lot. Frankly I would have liked to have seen him get more pass-rushing opportunities against Henderson. We'll see if he gets them Sunday.

No shit how many sacks go you expect him to get with Okland threw it like 8 times??

I've given up on him, already, and am hoping for a DE in the 1st or 2nd next year. . When does Hali's contract run out, anyway? They should probably just offer him the vet min or let him walk.

I imagine he'll just be moved back to left end. He's a solid starter at LE.

I wouldn't call him a solid starter, but I think he would be a solid rotational player.

The Panthers are probably going to put Travelle Wharton at left tackle, so forget Hali doing anything significant. Wharton is a veteran and I believe he's played left tackle before. Could be wrong.

I hope Hali shows up as well. The thing with a young team is that different players have to show up each week to be successful, just due to the inconsistency with young players. IMO.

Tamba is a LDE. Not a RDE.

I like Hali a lot, but he's a #3 DE. I think Turk's ceiling is higher, even though in a cover 2 you'd probably like someone that's more of a pure pass rush guy over there.

Here's to hoping we can grab a QB with our #1 and a pass rush DE with our #2.

Still better than seeing benny Sapp bounce off the QB
perhaps surtain can strike

The thing is that Turk is faster, stronger, and quicker.

He's learning on the job, and as you said, he has a higher ceiling.

With good coaching (I know, good luck with that on this team), he could probably be a 7-8 sack player, and he's much better as a run defender.

Hali is decent depth when we get a real RDE.

Hali will do just about absolutely nothing, no matter who they put there.

Turk McBride RDE and Hali back on LDE

Dorsey needs get it done inside.

Weakened OL Panthers may help too.

He's a solid starter at LE.

Not. People just run right at him. He sucks.

Neither his Hali so it works.

It's too bad about Hali. I was really pulling for him, but it looks like he's just a third, and long LE. They run right at his ass on 1st, and 2nd down. Damn.

meh .... you can prolly count the number of real plays he's made since he was drafted on 1 hand.

big disappointment

maybe we move the line over so we have two right defensive ends?

milkman

Neither his Hali so it works.

So what you do is leave Hali at RDE this year, and let Turk develop at the position that both he and Hali are better suited to play, but that Turk has a higher ceiling at.

Draft a RDE in the next draft, and now you have a solid #3 DE in Hali.

Looks like Hali draws the rookie.

They have no respect for him.

Why should they? He hasn't shown anything that would warrant respect.
